yes.  Taking pills (supplements) gives one the false notion that you are supplying your body with the nutrients it needs. The endocrine system tries to stay in balance.  When we ingest any unnatural chemical into the system,  it causes havoc.  Not only are you wasting money, you are doing yourself harm.   Look on the label of any so called natural vitamin supplement.  You will find folic acid.  On the other hand, Folate is in food.  Popping Pills is a form of fooling yourself.

How do you feel when you don't take your Centrum Silver vitamin?  If you feel that you have less energy then you know that your vitamin is having an affect on your body.

By the way, the article you read says that vitamins are absorbed in the stomach.  I don't think so.  If you want help choosing the right supplement for you, it is often a good idea to go down to your local health food store and start a dialogue with those that work with the community  and earn no commission.  Also, your primary physician may have some great advice on what may be great too.

But, nothing compares to listening to how your body responds to what you consume.

    Hi Keith,

There are couple things you want to look for with this supplement.
    1) Are the nutrients from all natural sources. You want to avoid synthetic nutrients.
    2) If you are taking tablets put them in a glass of water to see if they dissolve completely in 1/2 hour.

Supplements should always be taken to enhance nutrition from a healthy, balanced diet.

No, multivitamins/multiminerals are essential nutrients and our body cannot functionate without them. Of course, the most ideal and the healthiest way would be to take them from the food, but today  food very rarely has all needed nutrients - so if you do not grow your own healthy garden (in which soil needs to be rich on minerals), your body has very little chance to get all needed supplements from food, even if you buy the most quality, natural food.  So unfortunately, majority of people need supplements.
