    do arranged marriages make sense?

shouldn't love be the deciding factor? should someone else have the right to tell you who you are going to marry?

Arranged marriages aren't fair because of the lack of free choice. Everyone has a right to choose, and yes it should be someone you love and care for.
It would be a nightmare to me to be forced to marry someone I didn't choose! And in some places I would die if I refused to do as I was told.
No, it doesn't make sense if you expect the relationship to last or have love in it.

Well, in the olden days it makes sense but nowadays, no way it doesnt make sense. people now want to no each other better before they talk about marriage and i think that is better.

I encourage arrange marriages rather than the love marriage. Love marriages often failed because before marriage if we know any girl or love someone she might be introduced and familiar with our nature, hobbies, behaviors and attitudes as well and we also use to met her oftenly and with no hesitation at the firts of Marriage that is not interesting for me. I blieve in the hesitation in First day of Marriage because the thing we will tell our wives she will believe all those things.

No, and no one should ever have the right to tell you who you should marry, I think they are entitled to an opinion, but definatly not the final say!

I don't see how they can.  After all, marriage is about the couple involved and the children they produce from that union. I can't see any decisions that are made in arranged marriages that put either the bride or groom or the couple for that matter as the first priority...it's all about family names, family wealth, genes, breeding, religion, etc.   It's archaic at best. i think it's not, why? it's because there's no love involved

In religious and cultural contexts, the principals on which arranged marriages are often based by can carry profound wisdom that is centuries old and often positively spiritually inspired.
