How should the nation react to what a 16-year-old boy (Justin Bieber) thinks of abortion?
Justin Bieber made some pro-life comments. The nation is in an uproar. Both the right and the left are rallied, with pro-life groups marshaling to defend Bieber against the onslaught from pro-choicers: http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/pro-li … -comments/
Bieber, for his part, is sporting a new hairdo for a recent photo shoot. The question: how much should anyone care what a 16-year-old boy thinks about abortion? Does the fact that Usher likes this kid render his politics important? This reminds me of how people listen avidly to Ann Coulter!
when we start listening to 16 year old kids concerning such issues, we have problems. if he was a kid who spent his short life doing something that was part of the abortion issue, i might at least give him the benefit of the doubt but that's not the case.
Well I can see where people are coming from on both sides. He is just a 16 year old kid after all, and I bet he barely knows anything about abortion. He is either listening to the opinions of his parents or relatives, or saying what someone told him to. On the other hand, the Pro-Choice people are probably upset because even though he is just a 16 year old kid, he has a lot of influence with many children. Unfortunately, he is considered a pop star. Although I don't believe he deserves it, he is incredibly famous and has millions of followers. Since he proclaims to be pro-life, I'm sure many other children (and some adults alike) will be inclined to also follow in his beliefs. I know this may seem ridiculous, but it makes sense in a way. Personally, I believe people are going to believe what they want to believe without the influence or opinions of a 16 year old spoiled pop star.
16 years old boy has his own opinion but he is still a child.

The boy knows little or nothing about the issue. He's only playing by his celebrity status, which is quite hilarious. Nobody would give a hoot about him if he was just an ordinary boy; bringing this question up is because he is Justin Beiber.
I strongly disagree with most answers presented below. Whether Justin Bieber is a celebrity or "just 16" is irrelevant in terms of how seriously we should take his opinion. What really matters is the opinion itself: how informed it is. My assessment of what he says in the article you linked is that it's really not very informed at all. To say that abortion "is like killing a baby" is to ignore ALL stages of fetal development apart from the very last and suggest that it's always like that. The statement "everything happens for a reason" is a blatant cop-out, a sign of unwillingness to address the problems faced with a woman who has been raped or who will die if an abortion is not performed. In short, his opinion doesn't account for nuances at all. This is what really matters, not that he's 16 or that he's a celebrity.
We should only care insomuch as we support his right to speak his mind.
It seems USA has not issues enough of consequence, to dig out from grave and make a celebration of the settled question on 'abortion' and for such flimsy excuses as 'morality', that too from a 16 year old!!!
I disagree that the opinion of a 16 year old is not to be valued- it may be necessary for social workers and psychologists and other related people to look into what kind of a supercilious and superficial knowledge of life and the world in general can lead a 16 year old to state his opinion so casually, in any forum, on the necessity or not to terminate a life; and whether or not such an attitude is reflective of lack of awareness and consciousness of the average American youth and their inadequacy to be 'knowledgeable' of themselves or world in general.
Further frightening to me is the way he is being turned into a celebrity with 'new hair-style' etc. and of people talking of him as “‘Out of the mouths of babes’ goes the verse'!
