Dr Seuss, The Cat in a Hat.

    Sorry bad joke!

Depends what your into, I like reading about making money so the book 'The Richest Man in Babylon' is my all time favorite.

Second would have to be 'Think and Grow Rich'

P.S. You must excuse me I have a very dry sense of humor.

It would depend on what types of books you like to read.  If you like romantic novels with a historical theme, some of the most amazing books I've read is by Diana Gabaldon. She wrote a series of books that are definitely hard to put down once you start.

Read on a subject you are interested in.

If you like horses, read about horses.  If you like baseball, read about baseball.

For specific book recommendations, it depends on the person's age and interests.

For little kids, Dr. Seuss, the Hungry Little Caterpillar, the Mouse, the Bear and the Red Ripe Strawberry.

For older kids and teens, Harry Potter, The Lightening Thief, The Hunger Games, My Friend Flicka, The Secret Garden, White Fang.

    Grown ups---

Romantic: Good in Bed, In Her Shoes, Jemina J,, Agnes and the Hitman

Vampire Erotic-JR Ward and Kresley Cole

Action/Danger:   Dark Rivers of the Heart, Intensity, Don't Say a Word, The Killing Floor, Tell No One

Comedy:  Sick Puppy, The Custom Van (Dirty)

I like Janet Evonovich's Stephanie Plum series. It starts out with One For the Money. Great read, quick read, easy read for someone who just wants to enjoy what they are reading but not really wanting to think too hard about it.

Warning though... once you pick them up it is really difficult to put down!

My wife really like the Hunger Games book series, she reads a little each night before bed.  Start with some light reads to get into the habit before committing to being a serious reader.

If you're interested in the government of nations, especially with how they could go wrong and what a distopia would be like, I would recommend:  1984 by George Orwell,
    Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradberry
both of these books also have romance elements to them that keep the story interesting and are also suspenseful.

For a Christian reader, I really recommend the Chronicles of Narnia books. Even though they're written for children, they're still entertaining and are a good way to start with books by C. S. Lewis.

If you're a classics kind of person, one of my favorite books is Robinson Crusoe. It's one of the most unique stories I've read, but it is rather lengthy. For shorter reads, Robert Lewis Stevenson has quite a few quick reads, like Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde and such.

Anyways, what you read should really be tailored towards your interests, so it would be easier to suggest books based on personal interests.

This would depend on several things:

What are your hobbies or interests?

Are you looking to read the latest best sellers or classics of any era?

Do you want  something that is critically aclaimed, or a light easy read for the summer?

It also would depend on how old you are and where you are in life.

Although I focus mostly on mysteries, other books I read are related to my life and interests-topics include cats, writing techniques, biographies of artistic people, music, and poetry
