Does religion equal disharmony?
With so many indoctrinated stories of faith, do their very existence simply equal disharmony?
No more so than the different branches of science, or the different colours of light. If you listen to a panel consisting of religious leaders from across the world (a Priest, an Imam, a Rabbi and a Bhuddist Monk, for example) they will give similar answers to the questions they are asked, because all religions seek to understand the same basic truth about the nature of our relationship with the universe. The differences in their understanding can be more complimentary than conflictual.
Mixing religion with politics and ignorance, however, is quite an explosive brew.
I wrote a hub on this subject 3 years ago called
"How has religion hurt the world through out the years"
This is the opening paragraph...you will have to visit the hub as it is to big to post as answer....thank you so much for asking this Question
Where in the world is God today?
In this fast paced modern Hi Tech internet age has He fallen behind like the rest of the people who refused to conform to the latest craze or fad? Did He pack His bags and head off to a distant planet to start all over again? Only this time no forbidden fruit on a tree and Satan has been left behind to terrorize those that did not make the grade.
If you look at the growth of religious orders and gospels and mega churches He should be able to find a welcome spot. Or have they all just a knowledge of Him or more to the point taken some of His Son's many words ......continued on my hub

I think my take on the question is totally different from the first two who answered although both were deep and intellectual but i feel like question is more like this: Is there equal parts from one extreme to the next? YES there is its called polar opposites right? Yen and Yang right and left up and down its the way the universe was formed. For every force or existence there is a exact opposite. So my answer to your question is an absolute YES period.
If you are to take philosophical books, written by people such as the Qu'ran, the Torrah, the Bible, etc and try to take them word by word then, yes religions can equal disharmony.
If on the other hand we understand the there is only one Great Spirit, of which we are but a little part then, we would understand we are all the same. The same energy flows throughout all living things.
The differences in religions arise from cultural backgrounds and not spiritual backgrounds. That is why texts should be understood for what they are: books written by wise people to teach us morals and values in order to be able to live together in communities/societies.
The Great Spirit never published anything. It just is. May it guide our path when we are lost!
Not TRUE religion. James says in chapter 1 of that book:
Jas 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
Jas 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
TRUE religion can only come from a heart given over to God and when it is, it will live in love and harmony with God and man.
Religion is uniquely human and humans equal disharmony. We excel at it.
NO. I don't think it is religion that causes disharmony but the actions of those that profess to a branch of the world religions. It is the individual actions that cause the problems rather than what the religious practices require one to do.
If a Muslim/Christian or Jewish man goes out and kills another man...it is not because the Quran/Bible or Torah has asked him to do that but rather it is his selfish reasons that has resulted in him taking that action. Therefore you cannot blame the religion, in the media however a headline which says 'one man kills another man' will not sell, but if they add a bit of twist to the headline and say ' A Muslim man kills another Christian man' then it will sell. And it is this kind reporting and views in society that cause so many problems and wars.
Religion instils imbedded beliefs that override common sense, logical thinking and is adverse to accomodating other ideologies. It has been a tool for controlling the masses since its orginal indoctrination and has caused huge cultural divisions ever since.

Why does religion cause so many conflicts? Do we require religion at all?

I can understand the positives of putting your faith in such and such religion, which is why I do not think religion as a whole should be completely eradicated, however in this day and age I honestly wouldn't mind if it was.My question is this: why does religion NEED to exist? If you say "So...

After reading through the religion forum, I see a lot of different views, but I also see some that are very much the same. What I am curious about is this ... are we all mostly different, or are we preaching the same message from different mouths?Only one way to find out ...I just want to know the...
