   Are internet friends really our friends?
   
   Is our on line/internet friends really our friends?/Yahoo, Facebook, My Space is these people really our friends? many of us live a isolated life, and we connected to strangers on line, however, are these folks really our friends.

   I would say it depends on how much contact you have with them.  If only on Facebook/My Space then no, not really friends.  If you see them in real life or talk on the phone or do one-to-one emailing regularly, then yes, they are friends.  Of course there are always exceptions to any rule/guideline... but that's how I would classify it.

   That would depend upon the situation. Real friend in real world is the best because we interact with then in real life.

   To me a friend is someone you have gotten to know and care about, and that can happen on the Internet as well as in the non-virtual world. I have formed relationships at tomfolio.com, a cooperative of used booksellers I've worked on line with on committees for year. Some of them I've also met face-to-face after long hours working together getting our site off the ground.
   
   I have also formed friendships with some of the Rocket Moms on Squidoo, and even talked to one of them on Skype. If people share lot in common and work together in the virtual world, they can become genuine friends

   I think we fool ourselves when we believe we really KNOW someone because we communicate with them online.  I think online friendships can be the foundation of a good friendship but like all things in life, it has to grow and evolve.  That can't be done just online--after a while you have to go out and play with the 3 dimensional people.

   It really depends on the situation. On facebook and myspace, I personally know each and every one of the people on my friends list.... yet, some of these people I can't honestly say they are true friends and I am pretty sure if I dropped them off my friends list, they probably wouldn't even notice!
   
   As for internet friends, some of them I have really clicked with. I may have never met them in person, but I consider them better friends then some of the other people I know in real life.

   I love my internet friends.I enjoy talking with them.  I never used to have any internet friends but now I have several.  Internet friends are people that I “met” on the internet, and only know through the internet, never met them in person in “real life”. It can turn into real friends without being face to face.

   I think so. Sure, people lie on the internet but people lie in real life too, and for me a friendship is about the other person's personality, not whether they're a hot blonde 19 year old or a fat guy in a wolf t-shirt.

    A real friend is somebody who you can count on, someone who sticks around when things get tough, somebody who you can laugh with until you make that funny snorting sound, somebody who will keep your dark secrets...etc. If you think that your online friends can do all that then, yes, they are real friends.

    I do not think that just because we do not see the internet friends on a daily basis were not friends. I guess it would depend on how long you have been talking to the internet friend.

    I know all my FB friends personally and if don't know you I don't friend ya.
    
    The internet is full of anonymous things and people behind the monitor aren't always whom you think.
    
    There are safeguards like webcams for chatting and skyping,because people have been known to use othes pics and claim it's them.
    
    If they canlie about who they are,they can lie about anything.
