   making mathematics interesting lies with the teacher/parent who is teaching the child.
   use examples to help the child understand. example : if you are teaching the child fractions, buy a chocolate/cake and show them. this way they will understand better and also retain this.
   similarly, if you are teaching them addition, you can use toffees/fruits/flowers to make them understand the concept

   Mathematics comes alive for students when they use hands-on materials or math manipulatives. We often think of using blocks or beads in the early grades but that can be true of the older grades as well. Use of a wide variety of materials, especially materials that the children bring from home such as unused keys, buttons etc or items found on a trip to the beach or while hiking such as shells, rocks or acorns can make math especially interesting. If you are tide pooling and discover starfish, why not skip count by fives to determine how many legs on all the starfish together?
   
   Use math in everyday situations. If you are going on a field trip, how much money do we need to collect from all the students? How much does it cost for the bus? How many gallons of gas are needed to run the bus? etc.
   
   Estimate the weight of a pumpkin, guess and count the number of seeds in the pumpkin. Us geometric shapes to carve the pumpkin and then make pumpkin pie using a recipe with fractional amounts of ingredients. Finally eat your math after dividing it equally between all members of the class.
