    I don't think it is desired, just part of us as we have both the dark side of us as well as the light. Think you have to just accept both parts of you and love both bringing them into balance.

    I'm not following you.
    Do you mean what the attraction is TO the dark side of spirituality? What would draw people to it? Or, do you mean, what a soul that IS in the dark side, desires?
    to the 1, I would say;
    1 I would say the excitement of the unknown, or perhaps the temptation of having some sort of control over life, and it's ups and downs.
    To the 2, I would say;
    2 The desire to get away from it, to find something that satisfies the soul. Those who have been in darkness and have subsequently found the light, have testified of this.

    A nightlight.

    I'm not being (totally) flippant. Even someone whose soul is tied up in some pretty dark stuff, probably has a little point of light. Maybe it's that one loving relationship they still have. Maybe it's a stubborn belief that no matter what, good things could still be around the corner. Maybe it's that tiny hope for redemption that even the most jaded bastard still has in them.

    Funny, I just finished writing a hub about the darker side of human nature.

    What the soul desires is different for each person. The attraction to what is often called the darker side is probably power. Not just any power, but the power over another life. Be that through fear, manipulation or just out and out murder. I can understand the desire to hold another life in your arms knowing all you have to do is pull the trigger, both metaphorically and even literally and I can even understand how that may be intoxicating, but I am not driven to those desires myself.

    I think there is a darkness that lay within us all. A monster fighting to break free. Humans are by nature a violent race. Fortunately, by nature we are also caring and full of love.

    If the soul recognizes that it's in darkness spiritually it will yearn for light and my friend the only light that can captivate the soul is the light of the world the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

    That individual would pray, repent, fast and earnestly yield to GOD to change their heart and soul to be a better person smile

    On the other hand some people rather darkness than light so their soul being in darkness is nothing to them and therefore there will be no desire/s....etc

    Jesus said men rather darkness than light and that's so true

    The desire of each soul (or every one of us) is fulfillment both in this life and the next, nothing more.

    Freedom from spiritual darkness only comes from a feeling of fulfillment and a belief in hope for the future.
