   Hi this year I have been growing my vegetables in containers and grow bags and they seem to be doing well to date.
   
   I have 3 potato patio bags which have been rotationally planted.  Beetroots, radishes, carrots, mini cucumbers, courgettes, peppers and strawberries in pots and troughs and tomatoes, beans, peas, broad beans and assorted lettuce in grow bags.
   
   They are all now flowering and the first bag of potatoes is almost due to harvest.
   
   So I think the answer to your question is take into account how deep and wide the vegetables are that you want to grow in containers and you could try most things.

   There are many vegetables that can be grown in containers. Actually, most of them can. If they are the vining type, like cucumbers, use a tomato cage.
   
   Just be sure that whatever you grow has enough root room. If the plant is tall, be sure you give it a lot of pot to spread it's roots out in.
   
   And, if you are planting tomatoes in a container, mix some garden lime in the soil. If you don't, you will end up with blossom end rot and get no tomatoes from your plants.

   This answers varies on the vegetable and the size of the container.  I have started growing vegetables in egg cartoons and moved them to big planters/containers later.  It all depends.

   You can grow any vegetable in a container just make sure the container is deep enough.

   Vegetables that are ideally suited for growing in containers include tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, green onions, beans, lettuce, squash, radishes and parsley. Pole beans and cucumbers also do well in this type of garden, but they do require considerably more space because of their vining growth habit.
