no - I don't think we need to watch the nightly news every day. They either talk about the same thing over and over every night, or fill up time with mindless banter about stuff that doesn't really inform the audience. Also - I live in Phoenix AZ and almost every night our local news channel reports about children drowning. I think on average 20 children drown in pools in Phoenix each summer - it's sad.
There is so much evil in the world that when I see it on tv day in day out I feel so depressed even paranoid, I tend to avoid it.
The TV news is dead, it's sensationalist garbage and nothing more. An hour of murders and violence, it's not news.
They then toss a "fluffy bunny" story at the end and complete the broadcast with all the teleprompter-readers (they aren't anything more than that) having a good chuckle over how funny the fluffy bunnies are.
I believe that the news is biased information , therefore I don't believe most of it nor do I watch it. Television whether you want to believe it or not, is the ultimate brainwashing tool
the more we watch news the more shitty things we get to know. Gosh, there are so many negative events and deaths. I think it is better to be in oblivion!
Yes. I watch news daily at morning. I feel it provides me the required information of my surrounding world.
I don`t watch news that often, but I read them online as often as can on internet.....
You need about 5 minutes of news a day just to get a high level view of what's going on in the world. Stick to sources like BBC and offer a true balanced perspective. Think about it like this. Most things you buy in the grocery store that come wrapped in packaging saying it's "Healthy for you" really aren't that good for you especially if it has to be said in BIG LETTERS.
If a news outlet has to beat "Fair and Balanced" into your brain then it probably isn't that fair and balanced. Just saying..
I do think we should be well informed on a local, state, national and world level.
Having said that...............I perfer to read my news, always have.
My hubby is a constant news "watcher". He hits the floor at 4 am, turns on the news........it repeats itself on the half hour until 7, then the "recaps" start. In the evening, it begins again at 4:30 or 5 and replays until 6 or 7.
The days of Walter Kronkite are over. Our current newscasts, and the offshoots, indepth reportings, are a news and ratings frenzy. I no longer trust most newscasts...........they are full of highlights and attention grabbing headlines.
If there is a major fire, accident, drug bust etc in my area, yes, I want to be told...............once or twice.............a follow up is nice, but I do not need to be told 15 times!
The "news" has become sensationalized. I care little for this, and search the web and out of state newspapers for current events.
Fear and helplessness have not even occurred to me, yet.
Much of what passes as news today, is nothing more than attention seeking. There is more than enough competition for my attention already.
Those negative things will eventually poison your whole attitude. Soon enough, you will miss great opportunities by fear of been tricked by a criminal or hit by a car. I stay away from those as much as I can. And by that, I mean I don´t seek the information. Trying to actively avoid it is just as crazy. You can´t put a blindfold over your eyes whenever you go out, can you? I guess the best thing to do is to occupy your mind with useful things. It will eventually save your sanity on the long run!

I used to watch the news daily and found that it only made me angry. I now watch it once a week or so and learn what I need to know and my days are much more calm now. The only exception to this is in case of a crisis.
I watch the News to find out what the weather is like for my commute and if I need to take an alternate route due the an accident. Any fires, road construction, or police chases, could also impact my ride. Yes I too get tired of the " if it bleeds it leads" stories or the house burning to the ground with the News guy saying his familiar "they lost everything" line. Still, I want to know what is happening.
