What do you like or dislike about recent movies in general??

For example, I have quit watching movies because I find that every movie I watch is predictable. Only time I'll ever watch a movie is with my family or friends and they basically have to drag me to watch it!

I'm the kind of person who can watch almost any kind of movie and enjoy something about it. But here's my 2 cents anyways~

Generally speaking the chick-flick genre has ran out of original ideas.
My favorite genre, Horror, is coming anew with movies based on real life events. Which I find pretty cool. Sure its the same old ghost story or some kind of remade exorcist type, but hey, its still enjoyable.
The comedy genre is completely garbage. Movies like Dumb & Dumber  were great classics on stupid humor. But movies like Scary Movie 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, or movies like hangover, superbad, and knocked up are crap.
Action and sci-fi movies have always been good in my opinion, from aliens, predators, and killer clowns from outer space, to The professional, good fellas, and donnie brasco, they were all very enjoyable. Except one thing, how many movies can we make about Matt Damon running and law enforcement of some kind? haha

It's kinda funny how some people pick apart movies or predict the next scene, while others can just watch it and enjoy it for what it is. Entertainment.

Some recent movies I enjoy like "King's Speech," "Winter's Bone," and "Social Network," because they are all film in a way that is artistic and well written. As a film maker I try to make my films enjoyable and original, which I think is key to making a great movie (but it's hard making movies good.) You don't have to like movies the way I do, but I just think some recent movies are good. I hope this answers your question, it's really a good one.

I like that the humour is getting more to my taste, and quite crudely funny in some films, but so funny nonetheless. I dislike the predictability a little aswell. I think Inception was the most well thought out film I've recently seen.

Tree of Life was some garbage! But I will say it definitely was not predictable.  I don't even think the cast knew what the hell was happening!

My dislike is confined to the movies which are being made in my own country. And what I dislike is, the whole focus is on commercial aspect and the quality - the art of cinema is being neglected sad

I would like to see movies made by someone to express the thought - like an artist who has not been hired and is free to imagine and express. Although I know and understand that there are many challenges and pressure - still - I hope wishful thinking helps smile
