Apologies if this has been asked before... is translation of something an acceptable hub or not ?

I've just started to read a very interesting Chinese novel and have yet to find an English translation of the same on the internet. Am currently trying to improve my Chinese writing and I thought it would be a cool idea to try and translate the novel to put on my own blog...

Just wondering would my translation be accepted as a hub, or will it be marked as plagiarism ? Would be great if I could share the story with you guys but dont wanna break the rules. oh and my translation may not be 100% correct, but will say so in the hub xD thanks in advance for your time !

I myself would not see any problem with a translation as long as it is your own translation and not another person's translation.  Perhaps in the hub you could point out the problems and challenges encountered in translation,

Yeah, i would translate it to English, and then tell it in your own words, maybe chuck a link back to source for good measure. Should be fine smile

Well, the problem here is that you did not write the book that you are translating - but yet you stand to profit from it.

You could turn all ads off and present the thing that way with a forward that this is your translation of the novel by "Mr. China Novelist."

Or. . . .you could uniquely interpret it in your own way as a total departure from the Chinese original.  Perhaps you could "Westernize" it and make it your own, while still crediting the original source.
