Does adding a poll question to a hub automatically generate more traffic?

Is there a way to guarantee, or improve the chances of getting, responses to a poll question?

Not automatically, however it generally affects the time the reader stays on the page. The better the question, the more likely a reader is to take time to answer it. That will increase the duration of the page view which should increase the hub score and organic search traffic.

Not really. Topic/content is more important than a poll along with the use of popular search words. A poor title can kill traffic. It also helps to have an interesting photo attached to the hub.

Genearting traffic can also happen by writing questions, answering questions, and making comments on other people's hubs. If you say someting they feel is "thought provking" they are likely to click on your profile to check out some of your topics.
If you have a Facebook page with a lot of friends you can from time to time click the "like" button on one of your hubs. This will cause the hub to appear on your Facebook wall and maybe some of your "friends" will click and read it.
Last but not least if you are writing "quality hubs" from time to time one of them may be selected as a "featured hub" under a specific topic by the Hubpages team. This means a person who clicks on the word hub at the top of the page and then goes on to select a topic (gender relations, marriage, breakups..etc) they are interested in would see your hub. (under hot, best, latest...etc) Having a "featured hub" will increase your traffic big time.

Your readers don't see a poll until (after) they have opened your hub.

People who read your hub are likely to respond to a poll if the question is something they feel strongly about or can easily relate to.

Yes. Dang it you found out my secret. Adding a poll capsule puts a special code on the page, this code is automatically read by Google FIRST and as the spider reads it it activates an old magic spell from ancient times that grants people in the real world will flock to computers (rock walls back then) and read whatever it says.

^Yes, by adding a poll question it improves the chances of getting responses to a poll question. By not adding a poll question your chances of getting a response to a poll question are ZERO.

Thranax, your p.s. was an unfunny non sequitur, and a deliberate convolution (or else an "accidentally - on purpose" misread of my very precise words.

About as "clever" and thinly - veiled as your anagram for a pretty tasteless screen-name.
