Where do you find the subjects that you write about?

Is this an *inspiration, life experience or an idea that someone gave you? I know sometimes it hard to come up with something to write about.
Would you find it helpful if there was a place to go to find ideas and subjects that you could write about?

I usually write about stuff that I'm already passionate about or have some knowledge of, and sometimes things that come up in conversations with friends.

It can however be hard to come up with something. You always want you subject to be original to you, not something that everyone else is talking about. That can sometimes be a challenge.

Yes, it would be nice to have a place to go where you can get inspired to write on specific subject.

I tend to write about things someone might ask me regarding subjects I am knowledgeable about.  Think of areas where you have experience and knowledge - anything from how to draw, cook, your profession, etc. and consider questions people would have who don't know anything about that particular thing - or write about how you do something differently than most people do.  That's a great way to come up with not only ideas - but ideas that are likely to spark the creation of your most passionate and interesting hubs.

I tend to write about things for which I'm passionate about. Things which spark feelings inside of me. Issues which make me angry.

I like to write about areas that I have some experience in and also enjoy creative writing. There are many ways to find ideas and I have just finished an article on how to get in the mood to write. You can check it out if you'd like.  I hope that this helps you.

It is amazing when and where the inspiration comes from. I have just put a comment on a hub and a saying that I quoted gave me a title for a hub. If I had not have commented I would never have got the title.
Keep a pen and paper close and write down the thoughts you get or they will disappear forever never to be thought of again.

Most of my inspiration comes for the craziness of being a stay at home mom.. hense the mama drama.. but there is so much more out there. Lately, I have been awake at night with thoughts in my head. I always keep a pen and paper on the nightstand. I do not ever turn on the light as I do not want to wake my husband, so my scribbles are fun to try and figure out in the morning. lol. It can be a saying, an observation during the day or a feeling. Chances are if you are thinking it, someone else is.. you are just expressive enough to write about it!

I personally enjoy writing about my pets, and issues i have with people, places, and things. This keeps me very entertained, i also see hubs on things i never heard of reasearch them and learn about it then give my opinions on it. Check out http://nspeel.hubpages.com/hub/MSG-Kills

I share some of the same sentiments as some of the replying authors: keep a pen handy and write about things which challenge you emotionally.

However, I also like to write about things which I have no knowledge about as the research you have to do to get the facts right coupled with making it accessible and interesting to readers is a challenge that takes us out of our comfort zone. And anything that takes us out of our comfort zone will eventually make us better.

I also remember reading an article that said those who live on the fringes of society are often the most creative.

All these things just come as my personal experience. I am against 'finding' a subject. This implies something that resides only in the mind. To me writing is about real life, real people, real experience.

So... To write one needs to experience.

Or not. I am never sure smile

Just everything and anything that I see.  I'm a trashman fulltime so I travel each and every day for 6 to 8 hours at a time.  The pace is slow, and not only do I see a lot, but I unfortunately think a lot as well.

Most of my hubs are on topics that I'm very interested in or at least interested enough to research. But I've found ideas in the daily paper headlines, from TV show...really, just about anywhere.

It takes lot of time for me to decide. If I decide to write something without that spirit, I'm left with no ideas and stop in between and the article is always half-written. So unless and until I don't get that idea, I'm a handicapped writer. Well I pick up ideas of writing when I'm travelling or my interest topics. Sometimes just observing people makes me write a story. Sometimes it's the food i eat. Just about anything.
