   Do you make your kids do homework as soon as they get home ?
   
   I used to take my girls  for a swim or have a play first & then they didn't mind doing it so much. All 3 girls are hardworking & doing well .
   How about you ?

   First an after school snack then playing or swimming and the homework while I prepare dinner.

   I don't plan to, no. When I was in school the last thing I wanted to do was come home and continue where we left off in class. I wanted some time to kick back, relax, get comfortable, etc. Parents want to do just that when they get off work, so I feel it's fair.

   We have a snack and then homework right after.  One of my girls fights me doing her homework if I give her the chance to play for a while first.  Especially on days she has a lot of math.

   Generally speaking, I think kids should have something to eat whether it be their supper or a healthy snack; have their bath, and then find a quite place to complete their homework.

   No, i let them do it after dinner, we usually do this thing together so that I can guide them when they are working. After school I always allow them to play, then rest for minutes, eat dinner, homework, and sleep.

   I don't have young kids anymore but when my kids were still in school, they could go out side for a while after they came home from school, but after we ate our supper, they had to do their homework before any other playing.  They usually would do it right when they came home so they had the rest of their night to themselves.  I was lucky that both of my kids excelled in school and didn't need much help to do their homework and they both were responsible enough to make sure that they got it done on time.  I think you need to give them a break after just getting home but if they want to get it done right away, let them.

   I have my 3 girls do their homework right after school while they are still in the school work frame of mind. So that school and homework al finishes in a timely manner and they have the rest of the time to relax and do what they want. To get them back into the school work frame of mind after allowing them to play, is difficult for me. It also gives them something to finish their homework quicker so that they can relax and have a snack.

   We take a break after school, although, this is a bit frustrating because many of the kids on our street do have to do theirs before they can play.  I've found the girls are more focused and do better work with less drama if they do it after supper.

    I have never pressured my kids to do their homework. I don't need to tell my kids to do their homework to be honest as they do it by their selfs. x
