Is Your Score Lowered If You choose Not To Follow A Quetion Or Hub?
I'm not really interested in what my overall score is - I do what I like, when I like - but I'm sure I've noticed that when I choose not to follow a particular question or hub my score goes down? Or is this just coincidence? The thing is, you can end up getting dozens of e-mails per day informing you that there is this answer and that answer and it can get quite annoying, clogging up your e-mails.
I really don't think so. You can also change your settings under Profile / eMail notifications so you won't get so many notices in your inbox.
I still haven't really figured this score system out and nowhere is it explained really in the FAQ section... personally I try to ignore it although it's not always easy I admit
I had same problems with hubscore, going up to 92 with only 2 hubs and dropping down to 69 with 5 hubs, but OK, now I am happy because my current hubscore is currently over 75 ( DO FOLLOW in google`s eyes) :-)
Cheers.
I think that the people who are trying to get their Hubscores above 75 are the ones who contribute the most and they are really the ones who attract Google spiders. They are helping the existing Hubbers who have very high scores kind of like the poor helping the rich. This is because the fresh content from low scoring Hubbers tell the Google search engine that this site is continually being updated which means the spiders will come more often. This is a kind of exploitation.
If you unfollow a question or a hub your score is not affected at all. These are the factors that affect your score:
- Traffic; general traffic to your hubs and profile when traffic drops so does your score
- Hubscore average. When all the hubscores are tallied there is a number at the bottom that can help determine if your score rises or falls
- Hubtivity. How active you are. Overdoing it will lower your score so moderate your hubtivity. Being active also increases your score so as I said moderate!
- Violations. Having violations will lower score so minimize those.
There might be other factors we don't know about but those are the basics.
No, I don't think not following questions affects the hubscore. True, the high number of emails clutter up the inbox so I opt not to follow. However, I go back to my questions a few days later to check on the answers and if need be respond.
There are various factors like asking and answering questions, forum activity, commenting on hubs, hub hopping etc that affect the hub score.
Though I am writing regularly about 8-10 posts a month, read and comment on hubs fairly regularly, ask and answer questions too regularly, and in fact my traffic has risen about 30% over the past 10-12 days, I find that the hub score still fluctuates 2-3 points either way of 87.
The once thing I am not regular at is being active in the forums and hub hopping. These could be the hub score lowering factors amongst others.

I am sort of disappointed. I try to be active in the site as much as possible, comment on other people's hubs, help out in the forums, add new hubs once every two weeks, participate in the question and answer and my hubscore is slowly decreasing. Any advice from expert Hubbers on how to...

Hi--me again.. I was reading that there is a 'nofollow' generated on hubs with scores of 50 or under, so I've un-published all of mine that were down in that range. The result is that my total hub count is now way down, so that instead of 10 more hubs to 100, I've now got to...
