My son has been trained in Reiki and he performed Reiki healing on me once when I pulled a muscle in my back.  It helped to relieve the pain and begin the healing.

I also saw him help my other son once when he was recovering from an injury.  As I described in a Hub I published a year ago (Reiki - Seeing is Believing) my older son was in considerable pain one evening and was taken to the Emergency Room.  The doctor was busy with others and, until the doctor saw him, the staff was not allowed to give him any pain medication.  My younger son used Reiki to help relieve my older son's pain and it worked.

Reiki was not the full solution to the pain in either of our cases but it did provide temporary relief in both cases and this convinced me that there is something to it.

In both cases Reiki was not the only treatment involved so I cannot comment on its effectiveness as the sole treatment.  However, it does at least have some beneficial effect on the treatment of pain while one is awaiting more traditional care.

I have previously published a Hub (Reiki - Seeing is Believing)  about Reiki and my experience with it.

I am a little torn on this one. I have tried Reiki healing and it just did not work for me. Maybe the person giving this to me was not the best but I still need so more convincing on this one.

I've not tried Reiki, but I use to know a Shen therapist (One of two currently registered in my state). Not the same, but they are related.
I was doing some website work for her, and in exchange I got free Shen therapy. I can tell you it was amazing. The full therapy session had me asleep almost instantly. I woke up feeling as if I'd slept all night, and pain free.

The real kicker came when I had a horrible headache one day. I have neck and back problems, which result in some migraine-like tension headaches. She had me sit on a couch and began her work - again I fell asleep fast (Neither of these times was I the least bit tired/sleepy). A half hour later I woke up on the couch. Again, my pain was completely gone.

None of this lasts forever, of course. But neither does a massage. I've had some great massages in my life and I will testify that I've never felt the relief from a massage that compared to that of Shen.

I am a Reiki practitioner and have been seeing results in people. However, it is not a magic portion that can cure someone but, it sure can alter someone's life for the betterment.

I have been receiving Reiki by my fellow practicers and find myself quite relaxed which makes me think clearer.

I have not actually had Reiki treatments but I work for a woman who is also a Reiki practitioner.  I was tense one day and she walked up behind me and put her hands on my shoulders.  I swear I could feel electric current coming from her hands.  It was really strange.  There are still mysteries in the world!

A friend of mine is trained in Reiki and he performed a Reiku healing to help with my back pain (I have a herniated disc). It really helped and it was an interesting experience. I noticed a few days after the healing that I was feeling much better and able to exercise some, which had been a difficult feat before.
