   Getting the wrong job. Would you accept it?
   
   I would rather do the wrong job than no job at all. A friend of mine who is a mechanical engineer took this advice because he could not find engineering work. He finally decided to work as an attendant in a petrol station. He could not stand going on for months without a job and decided that "any" job was better than nothing because he wanted to keep disciplined. Would you do the same in his situation?

   No situation is ever the same.  I did, I did take "the wrong" job - however, I ended up never using my degrees.  And the first one of them was Masters in Engineering.
   
   I am not telling the story - I have told it too many times to be amused.
   
   I have a history of wrong jobs, one of them retail - what can be more predictable?  But I ended up cured from wanting to spend time in stores more than necessary.  On either side - working there or shopping there.  Maybe... it was only a lesson.
   
   I am offering no advice except for, remember that
   
   "There is nothing more permanent than temporary".
   
   I told it to my ex when he temporarily took a teaching job upon graduation.  He wanted to be a programmer, ...., whatever it was... IT, but not teaching.
   
   He still teaches. 
   
   The conversation and decision to do it for four months only...
   
   took place in June 2001.

   I agree with your views. Doing any job is a compromise whether one accepts it or not. Question of liking arises only when one has a choice. Sitting idle is bad and not desirable. No job is bad. Better option is to grab a job irrespective of nature of job. One may try to find better job while in employment.

   I like to think of myself in that situation right now. I don't think it is a bad thing at all. I most likely won't be in this position for an extended period of time, but it has given me opportunities I wouldn't have been given had I turned the job down. To me it's not so much about the job I'm doing, it's more about the people I am going to meet/ network with while in that position. By taking this wrong job, I wouldn't be able to meet with the marketing dept. about working with them- where I would rather be. It's that saying "it's easier to find a job, when  you already have a job"

   How can you get wrong job? If you will apply for right job for you, its not possible.

   In todays financial climate a job is a job. One would be a real fool not to take what he can get.
