Has anyone ever published a Hub that was very similar to one that you had published?

If this has happened to you, what did you do about it?

I don't research to see if there are others but I am sure there are. Kind of sad, I only have original work...

What can you do about it?  It they are both orginal work, then google authenticates based on publication date.  I would change or add to my work to make it better. If I thought it was a spin of my article I would file the forms and have it removed.

Do you mean it is almost a copy of your hub? I had one hub of mine copied word for word including the pics. Filed a complaint with the DMCA. It was taken down in 24 hours by the concerned website.

As a matter of fact, another hubber and I wrote hubs on the same subject within a week of each other. I know and trust this woman, it was just a coincidence. That happens in online writing.

Of course, they are both completely different and original.

If, on the other hand, someone wrote on the same subject as I did and the text was identical or very close I would have flagged it for hubpages. to look at.

My thanks to everyone for their responses. What happened is this:

I published a Hub on November 24, 2011 that discussed Saying Merry Christmas in 110 Languages. HubPages certified the Hub as being original. The Hub score for my article is in the mid-90s.

On November 30, 2011, someone published a Hub that discussed 101 Ways of Saying Merry Christmas in Different Languages. Although my Hub contains introductory paragraphs of text, both articles primarily are lists of languages and the way that "Merry Christmas" is said in each language.

I flagged the other person's Hub as possibly being duplicate content. I also sent an e-mail to HubPages yesterday evening.

When I look at my Hub online, the other Hub is listed in the column on the right as being a related Hub. The score for my Hub dropped five points from what it was late last night. I hope it doesn't drop any more.

I've been thinking I might start doing that soon - and if I do, I would be competing with myself.  I think that is okay, and if I do find out, I might consolidate the two hubs, and make sure I use the best of both.

Depending on the hub, some topics are common enough that people will be basically saying the same thing.  If it seems like someone is actually copying me, then I would definitely contact HubPages to file a complaint.

Just by accident. I don't usually check beforehand. Several hubs are similar to mine , but one can tell the difference by the writer's "voice". None have ever been copycats

Yeah, one in particular spoke on exactly the same things in a similar way.  I didn't do anything about it though because, clearly, mine was way better written and used proper grammar.  LOL!
