   Has anybody tried to quit smoking with an e cigarette?
   
   I've tried patches, gum already. thinking about using e-cig to quit smoking AND 'vaporizing' nicotine

   Hmm. I have never tried e-cigarettes but me myself and all the others I know that have quit smoking did it cold turkey or using some psychological methods. Nicotine substitutes in my opinion are only 'healthier' (no smoke&tar) ways of consuming nicotine not helpers to quit smoking. They might work if one was addicted to smoke itself but that's rarely the case. I like cigarette smoke and smell but even then I succeeded only with quitting cold turkey.

   I had a friend that tried using e-cigarettes only to start smoking regular cigarettes a week later.  Eranofu is right, it doesn't really help you curb your nicotine cravings only offers an alternative way to get nicotine. Factor in that people do enjoy the feeling of the smoke going into their lungs, it will just be a matter of time before people drop the e-cigs for normal ones.

   I'm not a smoker, but several of my friends were. The used the vapor cigarette, and liked it. Their only complaint was that the battery died quickly, and the cost of the battery was about the same as buying the cigarette in the first place. As far as effectiveness- they were all able to stop smoking. Like everything else it has pros and cons, but overall, if you're serious about giving cigarettes a bye-bye, why not try them??

   I've used them. I have one with tons of cartridges in my handbag. I have tried every method out there. Eranofu is right though, the longest lasting attempts have been cold turkey and everyone i know that has quit for good has done it that way. right now i'm trying acupressure (this magnet thing that you wear on your ear for a few hours a day; by far the cheapest method ever tried other than cold turkey! i'll let you know how it goes

   @ptosis, you're addicted to nicotine.  The only thing the e-cigarette does is change the delivery method.  Like all other drugs, there's more than one way to get it in your system.  If you're looking to get away from nicotine and cigarettes, which in my never to be humble opinion is a passive aggressive form of suicide, then my advice to you is to stop looking for an easy way out and commit to being a smoker who doesn't smoke anymore.  Stop smoking.  You can do it and I'd be happy to support you stopping.  You decided to start, now decide to stop.  That's how I did it.  Check out www.stopdontquit.com for support!

   I did try the Raven e-cig and I did not like them. The package says "not to be used for quitting regular cigs" I think the e-cig  increases nicotine addiciton. (Cough) I'm still smoking.  The last time I quit totally was that I was forced to. Mile high Denver did it. As soon as I went back to sea level I started up again. Currently hiking walking @ 4,000 feet and still using cigs.
