   When you answer a question on hubpages? read more....
   
   Is there a limit to how long your comments should be, in terms of answering any questions in the Q&A area here on Hubpages.
   
   I truly have no clue about this myself, and I only asked this question, because for some questions I feel that a more lengthy answer would fulfill its asking requirements. 
   
   What do you know, think, or have experienced yourself in the Q&A commenting area that supports such an answer for this question if any.  please provide a brief explanation.

   This is an excellent question. But I do not have an answer for you (so why even respond, right!).
   
   I do find some questions posed can easily be answered with a simple "yes" or "no." But that does not make it much fun or easy to make a detailed response. My personal rule is to at least provide two-three sentence responses. However, short question/answers can be useful with our busy lives. I posed a quick question about if it worth buying a fabric calculator. I really just wanted to get a quick poll, so I did not expected detailed responses.
   
   I think the way around short responses would be to add in something like you have here: "Please provide a brief explanation" or adding a simple "why?" at the end of the question asked.

   There is a limit to how short your answers can be. You have to have a certain length to your responses or you will be told that your answer is too short to publish. If it is too long (eg. over 300 words) you should write a hub instead.

   I think one of the purposes for the Answers section of HubPages is to inspire people to write hubs about the topic.  So, if an answer would seemingly be to long my guess is that it might be a great topic for a hub.  I wouldn't waste a lot of time writing a long answer to something when I could instead write a hub on it, post the link in the answer section, and in the long run, possibly make some money.

   Normally I only hover around comments sections of hubs - only recently I have been visiting the questions section, so I will focus on comments. I love leaving looooong comments on hubs that interest me, but I have found there is a limit. Like journalism, you want to stick close to your point, and if you go on a tangent, make sure it amuses people or enhances the overall "discussion."
   
   I can be accused of writing superlong comments, but I have to say when I see a long comment (like 600 words or something similar) usually they are rants and they tend to ramble. I do ramble some still, but I am curbing that :-) In any case, I TRY to keep it to 3 very short paragraphs or less. Although, breaking it up is hard to do.
