I think a PM system would be nice

I'm new here, but from the start I have missed this simple, yet useful feature.

Sometimes I forget to read my e-mail (I don't know if you forget too!), and anyways, it is bad in my opinion to have to read your mail in order to see fan mail, or contact mail.

Therefore, following what most forums have I think we should implement a PM system. This could be used for feedback to the author (as well as commentaries), and for fan mail. As I said, I find it contraproducent to use the e-mail for this, being able to implement into the PMs buttons and all those sort of things that would ease everything and be more user-friendly.

NOTE: I'm new here and I DON'T know if this is already implemented and I havn't seen it! (This has happened to me before...).

    Thanks for the time!

      Private Message.

I'm sure a lot of people would agree with this idea.

    Please, no PMs.

I get enough spam posted in comments and via email as it is.

And people can already leave fan mail for an author when they join a person's fan club.

No thanks. Those who want messages will have the contact button available. Otherwise, many don't want messages or emails.

I know I generally have to delete my emails from the contact button because of spam, as well as a lot of fan mail and comments. I don't want to have to do that with PM's too.

There IS already a private message function for those that choose to have one.

If you go to my profile right now, you can see that there is a means of contacting me.... this goes to my email inbox, the ONLY private messaging facility that anybody should need.

When somebody sends a private message, I would get sent an email telling me that I have recieved one, I would then have to login to hubpages to check that private message, only to find that it was spam or something that person could have asked on a thread.

If it can be said in a forum then say it in the forum, if it needs to be private, then take the time to email me.

Im sure that many people will also agree with me.

I get PM which goes to my email to let me know that I have a message from Hubpages.  Usually it someone that has a question about my article that have read.  I haven't received any spam.

No thanks.  This has been canvassed many times already.

Writing Hubs on HubPages is rather like writing articles for a magazine.  People come along and buy the magazine on the newsstand - on Hubpages, they pay for it by clicking on ads.

Lately there have been a lot of new members who regard HubPages as more of a writers' community than a magazine. They're more interested in writing for and chatting with each other than in writing commercially. That's fine and they're entitled to use it that way, but it's not the way the site makes money, so I can't see HP developing tools that would encourage it.  I certainly hope not!
