How to prevent a five year old pre-schooler from bed-wetting at night?
My son had his feed 1 hour before his sleep. He will pee often and pee again before he sleeps at night. However, he still wet his diaper when he wakes up in the morning.
Don't make a big deal out of it, if the nappy is wet in the morning, it will make the child more nervous and also if you are using nappies you should switch to night pull ups, these make the child feel more grown up. Also, you could try one thing I was told, wake your son up during the night and take him to the toilet to show him that if he needs a pee in the night he needs to use the toilet not the nappy he has on. Also, get a waterproof mattress or waterproof sheet and try him without the nappy. It may work or it may not but it's worth a try. My son took ages to potty train and eventually he got there. Kids potty train when they are ready. good luck
My daughter is 3 and has gone through periods where she's been dry at night and then she'd start wetting again. I finally stopped putting her in pull-ups recently because she'd been dry for several weeks. I have an incentive that I've offered her if she's dry in the mornings. I've encouraged her to get up and go to the potty if she needs to. Last night she got on the potty very early in the morning and got back in bed. I was so proud!
Every child is different. They go through ups and downs. But, if you feel like he's ready, an incentive might do the trick. Best of luck!
Thanks, fitmom for your advice. I will try the incentive trick. Hopefully it will work.
My nephew had the same issue I tried these tips:
Continue to have him use the bathroom before bed.
Try not giving him liquids after a certain time, usually 2 hours before bed.
Support him and let him know he's a big boy now and its time to do big boy things.
Keep a really cute kid night light in the bathroom, some children are afraid of the dark and wont want to get up and use the potty. A night light will help.
I hope these help, but all kids are different. Good Luck:)
I have seen people wake their children up two times in the middle of the night and take their child to the bathroom, after time, the child will get it embedded into them that they need to wake up and go.

My son was punished by his father for wetting his pants by "squeezing his penis really hard."...Would you agree that this is abuse? I know every parent will eventually overreact to something their child has done in negative way; I dont think this is just a case of yelling or spanking over...
