   How familiar are you with the night sky?
   
   Do you live--or have you ever lived--in a place where the sky is dark enough to become familiar with the different planets, constellations, nebulae,and individuals stars?

   No, unfortunately. I've always lived in light-polluted places. The stars in Orion's belt are about the lowest magnitude I can see.

   I can see a good amount of stars and planets but still have light pollution issues. I can track some constellations, mostly winter, like Orion. Summer Constellations seem to be much fainter in my area.

   I'm fairly familiar with the night sky. I've loved astronomy all my life. Before I knew standard names, I made up names -- like "Jewel Box" for the Pleiades.
   
   When I lived in Los Angeles, my eyes were pretty damn good -- I spotted Uranus by naked eye observation, but it wavered in and out of visibility. I was even able to make out the Andromeda (M31) galaxy on an exceptionally clear, L.A. night.
   
   The first star party I was ever on -- at the northern edge of L.A. county -- the stars were so thick, I couldn't recognize the constellations. But I didn't mind.
   
   Now, I live in the Philippines and often enough see stars I'd never been able to see from the States -- especially Alpha Centauri, next door.
   
   I love astronomy so much, I created a 3D astronomy software program called "Stars in the NeighborHood" which is sold online, and my flagship website, AncientSuns.com, is dedicated to astronomy.

   In my child hood when sometimes we use to sleep under sky (It was traditional that people used to sleep under sky in nights of hot summer), it so beautiful to see clear sky full of stars and everything. But now coming of modern cooling equipment like air conditioners people are forgetting this habit and thereby creating distance between them and mother nature.

   I am familiar with the night sky. I can identify constellations and stars. When I was in school, I lived in a place where night sky was dark enough to observe planets with my own eyes. My teacher taught me to follow the happenings in the night sky.
   I love to give lectures on Sky Watching to School children.

   I think The Big Dipper, also known as the Plough is easily recognisable in most countries. Including this i can also able identify the plant Venus in the sky sometime,

   I have seen the night sky a  lot of  times  /  so many  times it was a fantastic sight .....I  cannot describe its beauty in words . in contrast , I cannot say if  I enjoyed the scene beyond  my sentiments ,   that is , nothing to do with astronomy.,

   The best place I have been to be able to see the stars is up in the Shasta mountains. You can see the Milky Way from there! The only other object I can identify is the Big Dipper. I should know more.
