   Online classes are not easy. When you first sign up it seems as if you'll have all the time in the world to prepare, and then, suddenly, it seems as if the class is about to end and you have done absolutely NOTHING!
   
   Attending classes online requires a lot of self discipline, which simply means that you have to treat the only classes as if they are real classes. Set several times a week that is allotted specifically to doing assignments. In fact, if you think you'll only need to spend 3 hours a week for a class, give yourself 4 hours a week. This will allow you room for error and maybe even give you the ability to finish early.
   
   It certainly is no easy task, as it takes a special kind of person. But I think anyone who is capable of writing consistently on HubPages, journaling, regularly, or doing any other task that requires commitment, should be fine in an online school.
   
   Try taking just one class to see if you have what it takes. If that is a breeze, then you can start taking fuller semesters.

   It really depends.
   
   Are you the type of person who works hard and finishes everything on time or ahead of time? Or do you procrastinate?
   
   Do you learn better in a classroom setting? Or do you learn better by using your own intelligence?
   
   I work well in either setting. As long as you ask for help and keep up wit hit, you can do fine.

   In my situation I find the discipline and motivation to attend college online in my goals I set for myself.  When I began attending a online college I wrote out a list of long term and short term goals for myself.  My short term goals are goals I focused on for that day, that week, or even that course.  My short term daily goal is making sure I post on my discussion questions and work on my assignments.  My weekly goals would be turning in an assignment on time and trying to get the best grade possible.  My goal for my courses is always the same, strive to get the best grade I can to keep my gpa up, I do not accept any grade lower than a A.  My gpa at my new college is a 4.0 and I want to keep it that way, because I am going into the competive career field of Education.  Who knows, A excellent gpa could be the deciding factor between me and another student that also attended an onlline insitution.  My long term goals are goals I am trying to achieve years from now.  Like graduating from college, getting a great job, and continuing my education with completing my masters.  My short term goals keep me disciplined and my long term goals keep me motivated.  I also have other sources of motivation that come from my son and my boyfriend, I want my son to see me in a career that I love and enjoy.  My boyfriend graduated from college and received his Bachelors in 2009 and is close to completing his masters, so I see him living my dream.  But I do not completely rely on motivation from others, because that is a recipe for disaster, motivation is stronger when it comes from the inside not a outside source.

   You need to prepare to spend all your spare time working on each lesson.  For some reason I do much better online because there are not any distractions.  So if you want to motivate yourself to attend college online.  You have to spend all your free time studying the lessons provided by the instructor.  Honestly I only take one class at a time because it is very time consuming.

   Take your online studies seriously. IN my first online course (I've taken 16), it was strange. There was not the discipline of going to class, and the onus was on me to interact. It required a different rhythm. What is really nice is YOU set the hours. YOU decide when to study and when not to. I found it was easy to fit online studies in, in little bits here and there during the day, and to schedule blocks of time when I was available to focus on the tasks of my courses. That was so much better than having to schlep to a campus and sit in a class. i could work the study time around my personal learning styles, rhythms and interests. I was able to use my time well. 
   
   The courses I took had interaction. I liked ones where there were audio conferences and plenty fo discussions. I liked ones where the work was reasonable paced. I had professors who responded promplty to email. But then again, the university was a well-known online institution. Other schools that are just adapting to online teaching tend to be hit and miss. The profs may be knowledgeable, but less skilled at online pedagogy.  So find an institutions that has a good reputation for its online courses. Hopefully, that will keep you engaged.

   I agree with Robert Erich, it takes self discipline and set time everyday, just like many people do on HP and you can do it. Don't look at the big picture if it scares you, take one step at a time, persistence and regularity is the key.
   
   I have done Uni courses online, but it is easier becuase you usually pick where your interest lies.

   You need to remind yourself about the financial investment you’ve made in your education and how it will ultimately, most likely, affect the rest of your life. Also, well-reputed online colleges make provisions to help students along the way during their programs. For instance, I’ve been reading a few student reviews about Stevens Henager College (provides online and on-campus programs) and I found that the college offers a number of student services, tutoring programs, career services etc to help students along the way. Not bad, if you ask me.
