Would you use the K-E Diet that is also called the feeding tube diet?

I'm researching this diet to write a hub and wondered how many people would pay $1499 to feed themselves through a tube for 10 days to lose 10 to 20 pounds.  It isn't a diet that I would considered using myself even if it were free as I think it is taking dieting a step too far.

What a horrible ordeal for losing 10 pounds! People who lose weight that way will probably re-gain the weight when they begin eating normally again. Better that they just change their eating habits and lose the weight gradually. That way, they'll have a better chance of keeping it off.

I agree - it's taking things way too far.

"Dieting" in general is usually a good approach to weight loss.   It's hard on the body and dieting usually ends up creating a yo-yo effect of weight gain and loss and it's hard on the body.  Changing personal eating habits, on the other hand, can lead to life-long good health and can lead to weight loss if done right and in conjunction with regular exercise.

I've been teaching health, fitness and nutrition classes for nearly 15 years and in my experience it is very rare that someone can successfully keep weight off by simply "dieting".

Thank you for your answers Jenna and Kris.

I've now published my hub about the K-E diet.

As a nutritionist and personal trainer, I have seen a lot over the years. I've even known many women who have had surgical procedures to lose weight. Unfortunately, all of them have experienced severe side effects. In addition, some of them never learned how to build healthy habits to keep the weight off and therefore gained back all of their weight plus some. I would suspect the feeding tube diet would be the same if healthy habits are not learned. Besides, who wants to spend that amount of money to lose 10-20 pounds? That's just nuts! Instead, they could spend a fraction of that on a qualified nutritionist and/or personal trainer and learn healthy habits for a lifetime.
