What do you do, if you really cannot sleep?
Do you twist and turn -or read -or get up and do something?
I get up and went to the kitchen after that I open the TV and watch night news.
I usually get up, because my problem are not the twists and turns, my problem is thinking too much. If I can't sleep, I can't turn off my mind and I think and think and it's exact time when all fears and regrets and whatever is bad comes to our mind and there's nobody to talk to, so I just get up and do something, doesn't matter what, so long as all the thoughts slow down for a bit, sometimes I turn on the TV, others read a book or even do some house work.
It often becomes a problem for People who think while sleeping.sometimes we want to sleep but cannot because of tensions, anxiety and many other reasons.so the best way to avoid this is to think nothing while you sleep and try to relax and leave everything behind .
I have the same problem as algarveview. Once I start thinking about a problem, I can't stop. I get anxious if I can't figure out how to solve the problem. I try to focus on something else but I usually end up getting out of bed. If my problem is "too much to do and not enough time", doing one thing on the list usually helps. If the problem is beyond a quick fix, the TV goes on and I eventually fall asleep. I wish there was someway for me to just let it all go at night but that is not my personality.
I have the worst time getting to sleep, and I have a hard time staying asleep once I'm out. I used to just get up and pace around my apartment or read until I couldn't see anymore, but I've found a few things that help me.
Celestial Seasonings company has a Sleepytime Tea that I drink every night that helps to calm me down. I've never had the same sort of success, even with sleep aids. Also I wear a sleeping blindfold and earplugs since your body naturally falls asleep better in silence and total dark, and sudden noises don't jar you awake. They're kind of hard to get used to (and they look a little dorky) but it's helped me out a lot.
I've always had trouble falling asleep. I envy people who can lay there head down and just rest so so peacefully. I have to take Tylenol PM nightly or I would up for hours.
Oh dear,anti-cholinergic meds are not really such a good idea, especially long-term.
Well, I discussed it with my doctor and he said it was fine. To be honest I should find other ways, but this is all I have found that works. I could just take benadryl, but it doesn't seem to work as well without the Tylenol.
For a more long term solution to sleep deprivation, i'd suggest exercise for about 20 minutes each day. This exercise can also include extra house work and walking the dog (just going for a walk.) Make sure you are in a tidy house, or at least a tidy bedroom. Eat carbs before you go to bed. Eat healthily in general. Try not to bottle up any emotions or negative thoughts, problems with spouses, partners, or families should be spoken about in a calm and effective manner, to avoid arguments and bad feeling. General de-stressing helps, and we'll have a hub up about that soon. It may sound not your cup of tea, but have you tried meditation and other things like that? It may help you.
Also, twenty minutes before bed you should do something that takes no brain power whatsoever. This doesn't mean watch T.V. Alot of people suggest reading books before bed but this can actually captivate you and get you either wanting to read more or trying to guess plotlines and such. I'd suggest sitting in quiet with a nice hot drink.
When you are in bed, try things like trying to keep still despite your desperation to wiggle. Tossing and turning doesn't help anyone. Lay still with your eyes CLOSED until you genuinely feel tired, then turn over if you need to.
Well,I would take some novel and start reading that until I sleep
