   I have been afraid of bringing on the 2012 prophecies by our continual infatuation with the subject. I believe we create our world by our thoughts and subsequently the words we speak. I'm not really sure what the prophecies say will happen to us, but whatever it is, we shouldn't be waiting for it as if it real.
   
   I have the same fears about global warming and the destruction of the planet by our own carelessness. Bill McKibben has done an incredible job warning us of what we have done and the consequences of it. But now we need to focus on what we can do and not on what has already been done.
   
   Probably not many reading this will remember the Harmonic Convergence, but it was a time in late 1987 when the planets aligned in a particular configuration. At that exact time, groups all over the world gathered to imagine world peace. It was a very powerful gathering. Within just over a year's time the Berlin Wall, a very material demonstration of the split between East and West Germany, and on a more symbolic level, the split between Communism and Democracy, began to crumble and come apart as people literally tore pieces out of it. For 28 years, the Berlin Wall separated and intimidated the German people. But the strength of a collective visioning meditation proved to too much for the thick wall.
   
   The power of thought in an individual is strong, but add many thoughts and the power multiples exponentially. My wish is that people's thoughts could focus on the positive, imagine our earth recovering from the harm humans have done, imagine the best of what's likely to happen late this year. I like to think that when the prophecy comes to fruition, it will mean a renewal in personal spirituality and kindness and joy throughout communities all over the world. If we all focus on good things, good things will happen. Happy thoughts, everyone..

   I don't know if we are causing the prophecies, but I think we might cause chaos closer to December.  I can't help but think that December 21, 2012 is going to be another Y2K panic.  I think people are going to make a run on the stores and lots of people will be scared and acting crazy. 
   
   This could cause riots or even stampedes similar to what happens on Black Friday.  I think any disaster that happens during the later part of the year is going to create hysteria.  People are going to interpret it as the end of the world even if it is just a normal natural event. 
   
   So, in a way, thinking something bad is going to happen in 2012 may cause people to make it come true.

   We're certainly responsible for all the hype and mass hysteria that surrounds the prophecy, If anything does happen, it won't vindicate the Mayans, it will simply be a natural coincidence. Personally, I don't think anything drastic will happen. In a years time, I'll still be here eating, drinking, breathing, sleeping and writing.

   Good question bmcoll. I don't think the end will come on 12/21/12 just because that's when the Mayan calandar ends. I don't know any more than the basics of this. But every year or so there is a date when the world is supposed to end (last year it was 5/21 at 6:00. Six -o- one came and nothing happened.)
   
   If something bad happens close to that date, it will be coincidence, not prophecy.

   wow.  of course not..thats just silly.  So what we are going to self-implode because we are thinking negative thoughts?  Or more accurately: we are going to self-implode because we think we are going to self-implode?  I'm sorry but that just seems ridiculous to me.
