   Do you pay for repairs
   
   When something needs fixed in your home do you fix it yourself or pay someone to do it?

   Well, we have 2 little houses. I have my little yellow house that is 200 sq. ft that I call my playhouse. Since it is small, any repairs would be small, easily manageable jobs. My fiance did the repairs on my playhouse and I helped him and watched so I will know how it works and how to fix it. It is important to me to learn everything about fixing my little house from the electrical, plumbing, etc.My father was a carpenter so I do know some things and am always wanting to learn more. I also worked as a roofer after a recent hurricane so I know how to do that also.
   
       I want to be self sufficient when it comes to my playhouse. I plan on learning to do tile work so I can do my kitchen counters and I have new light fixtures to put up and siding that I want to do redo. That's one of the big appeals to me about my playhouse. I can learn to do it all. Our next project for the playhouse is a 55 gallon septic system. It is a guest house now and not used much so this is the perfect, easy septic system for it.
   
      My fiance can do everything, electrical, plumbing, sheet rock, roofing, you name it and he can do it. He moved our "big" white  house (600 sq ft) on his own with just a few friends to help. He was the mastermind of the job. He lifted it, moved it and had water and electricity hooked back up in it within 2 days. It would have cost us about $10,000 to hire a company to do it.
   
     We never have to hire anyone to fix anything because Al can fix it or can barter with a friend if he needs help with a job. So, to answer your question more simply, Al and I can fix everything on our house or have friends who can help if needed and we never have to hire a professional to do anything. So we save a lot of money that way.

   We pay to have someone do it.  We just aren't handy and don't have the knowledge to do a lot of things correctly.

   it's what i do for a living so i never pay anyone other then my employees when they help me with the repairs.

   Not really, I prefer to fix anything I can because it saves money and I don't like paying someone a fee just to come out to my house when I can probably fix it. Though I don't mess with electrical I have a friend who is an electrician and I don't have to pay him anyways, we just exchange work.
   
   With so much knowledge on the internet and so many books on how to fix something, as long as you pay attention to the detail of what is needed to be fixed than doing it yourself is a breeze.

   I am very blessed to have a talented husband, quite skilled with plumbing, electrical and a host of other maintainence issues............While, there are many things, that I could not , personally do........I need to only call upon him.
   
   
   When, he is no longer upon the Earth.............I will either recall what he taught me, or be at the mercy of others.
