Would you fire an employee that strips as a second job?
Would you fire an employee with a monther that is a stripper and the employee is following a similar path in her free time? What about legal issues? Consider the business is a professional office and the employee has contact with many clients.
No. There is only reason to dismis the employe if the extra work cause problems with her work for you, then that should be a point of explaining the situation.
I think a person could not get away with this as far as the laws are concerned about hiring and firing. I do think it is immoral to do that kind of thing and have never done it. Most employers probably do not care though with the lack of morals out there and the fact that lots of employers are men. I am not saying that is bad, it is what it is.
since stripping makes more money.... why does she have a day job?
furthermore, it would depend on what kind of day job it is? is the employee representing the company in some fashion, as a customer service agent in the public eye, a receptionist, a salesperson? do you want your enterprise associated with a stripper?
(hey, you asked the question....)
It's an interesting one from a legal point of view. You don't want to be taken to a tribunal for unfair dismissal. But surely if her extra-curricular activities impact on your business, you should have the right to get rid of her. If your company sells Bibles or provides services for young children, it should be easy to make a case. However, if you just don't like the idea of your business clients meeting a representative of your company whom they may have seen stripping, you might end up with a fight on your hands. I think you might need to put a term in the contract of employment to the effect that the employee promises to do nothing outside working hours which will bring your company into disrepute. That wouldn't help with a current problem, though.
No I would not fire them but I would ask are we not paying this person enough money because they have to strip?
What someone does on their personal time is their business, as long as it does not effect the company in a negative way. If some of the business clients saw this person stripping they may have a problem with it, i.e. they may not show respect, then it becomes the company's problem as well.
Only for certain jobs... If she were a priest, worked in a church, worked with children, was the face of some sort of charity or as a role model would I be uncomfortable enough to consider termination.
If his/her work stats are excellent and it benefits your business then firing that employee is needless. But when it comes to legalities, better make him/her quit stripping or fire him/her.

Do you enjoy firing people?

There are times when an employee gets the boot so to speak. Reasons for being terminated can be either tangible or intangible. It is reasonable that an incorregible, untrustworthy, subpar, insubordinate, and uncooperative employee gets terminated to be replaced by an employee who is...
