   Did your hubscore ever drop after commenting on a controversial hub, question, or forum?

   It definitely dropped from 85 to 70 as an average, and this not because of answering a controversial (or maybe) but pretty sure because I criticized hubpages! Unfortunately, for them, I am here to write not to reach higher scores in order to be paid.

   If you had a website that cast down scores upon thee, do you not think several players would be tinkering with the scores, while being biased to the utmost degree?  Uh, tell the truth and get ranked down; enjoy..........

      I've seen people with an author's "Hub Score" in the 90s, with only one or two poorly written Hubs and very little participation, and others who actually wrote well and had many Hubs, but was disliked due to their opinions, and had terrible scores...

   I have never really understood what makes the score go up or down.  I use to wonder and even worry about it...now I don't.  I try never to make a comment unless is offers something good, encouraging or positive because I believe in offering good energy to others.  So, i am not sure about commenting on controversial hub or not.  It shouldn't make a difference.  Each of us have an opinion and that should be respected.  It is that simply...to me.  Good question...it does make one think.

      I disagree, as I do here by giving feedback that is not politically correct. An opposite viewpoint to me is the reason that I write hubs. It gives an opportunity for me to see the other side of my opinion.
      
      If I only get agreement then how do I know

   I'm not sure. I only leave positive comments if warranted.  If not I move on.  The reason?  Frankly I am concerned if I comment on a poorly written, or edited hub, that the writer will in turn go to my hubs and do the same thing - I do not want to get into a pi$$ing match...so I stay positive or pass.
   
   I have seen some really nasty things go on here and people can be so petty.  So I stay positive (mostly) and try not to look at scores, rankings etc. and just write.

   For example a couple other hubbers and myself commented on a "controversial" person's hub in support of the "controversial" hubber. Personally I think the person has valid points and expressed my agreement and support. We have noticed our hubscores drop immediately afterwards. However, I will continue to speak my mind. I never vote down just because I disagree with that person's opinion.

   Yes, but I have read that this is just coincidental. I am not sure. It won't change the way I comment and participate however. If we sell our integrity for popularity what have we gained?

   You ask a very interesting question. For me, I don't know enough about scores on HP to understand what causes increases and drops. While I try to mostly stay positive in my replies, I am after all human and do let my argumentative side show up every now and then. Does my debating an issue lower my score? Honestly, I don't know because I didn't look before or after replying.

    I not only answer controversial questions and comment on controversial hubs but I also create them and I have never seen my score drop. If it really worked that way many of us would have no score.

    In blogging it's called "trolls."  They are here.  I write controversial Hubs and the my scores zing all over the place.  That's the problem of HP having a vote down button.  It gets abused way too often because someone objects to content.  That shouldn't be a reason to lower a score ever.

    Totally hornswoggled over what causes the score to flux.  I have written on controversial hubs and expected to get kicked in the teeth and the score has soared.
    I like to read controversial hubs; some of my favorite authors are ones I don't agree with on anything.

    Yes, but I don't have a clue why.
    
    I think that the hubber score is useless, especially when it vacillates so much.
    If hp is going to have this scoring method then they need to give feedback as to why it is happening.
    
    If there are multiple areas that can cause the rise or fall of the hubber score than there needs to be feedback as to which area is causing the change.
    
    This also applies to the hub scores.
    
    Is this survivor or hp?

       It is a professional site and uses hubber score as an instrument to inspire new hubbers to write more. Often I wonder that hubber score of old hubbers is locked assuming these hubbers don't need encouragement since they have become accustomed to writ
