What sites can one obtain free photos from to use for your articles?

No secret I have problems in this department.  Just thought I'd get advice from hubbers who seem to be experts in this arena.  Is Photobucket, Flickr and Wikicommons free? Additionally, what other websites offer free photos?

www.morguefile.com is good, so is www.sxc.hu (stock.xchng), I've been using the latter for years. Wikimedia Commons is free, but Photobucket and Flickr are places where people upload photos. They may or may not be free use.

Hi John, I tend to use wikicommons for my photos. Never really tried photobucket. But flickr can be problematic as many people copyright their photos to prevent others from stealing them(rightfully).

Thank you Georgie and JKenny for answering this question for me.  And, thank you in advance to anyone else who sends in future answers.  I'm thanking everyone in advance, because, as you all know I can only submit one answer.

Look for creative common type sites.. flickr  is one of them..just check the usage of the photo from the photographer.

I'll just back up what others have said: wikimedia and flickr are my best sources, followed by fotopedia.

I use public-domain-photos.com and make sure I put the link in as the source, just to be nice. I don't think they ask you to, but I make sure I do it anyway---just to give them some extra hits on their site. There are around 5,000 pictures and some clipart, too.
