Oil leak...
just bought mazda 5 2007 last january 25 2012.. after about 6 weeks, notice oil only up to low level, top up til high level. but last sunday(13th may), oil level was below low level and I cant hardly see if theres oil.. notice oil on top of engine, mechanic thinks that coming from gasket seal on top of engine as cant see any problem anywhere, engine sound very good.. advice me to put oil stop leak,, good advice please.. thanks..
I have Mazda 6 2005. I could not find were it leaks untill i removed the protective cover beneath the engine compartment. It is easily done , no even need to go to mechanic. 4 or 6 screws removed and then you see the bottom of engine. Besides if it leaks it is collected first of all in the proterctive cover untill it goes over the rims of it. Try it
thanks mate.... ya, but leak coming out from top of engine(front) where the bolt of engine cover.. thats what the mechanic says,... but still looking for any advice.. what do you think, 15w-40 is ok or i`d rather changed to 5w-30, more heavier oil....????
15w-40 is thicker than 5w-30. 15w-40 is mostly used in hot weather like summer in desert areas. It is thicker & may slow down the leakage. If you use it in very cold weather, it may be a little harder to start the car.
Thanks, ttagpine...that's what I thought, 15w-40 is better but took my car to where I bought and asked them what oil is best to used, they advice me to used 5w-30.. Not satisfied though. Checked Mazda website what recommended, it says 5w-30..
5w-30 is recommended for most cars. It's a good all-around oil & helps to get better fuel mileage. Your engine has a leak. I strongly suggest fixing the leak. If that's not an option, then a thicker oil might slow the leak. Stopleak is a last eff
Yes, leak has been done( 4 injection seal) and glad that no more leak at this time... That's why they recommend to used 5w-30.. Although, engine oil still going down a bit, so need to top up sometime.. Mechanic can't find anymore leak,,,
From your description, it sounds like the valve cover gasket is leaking. These are generally easy & cheap to replace. Have you asked your mechanic how much it would cost to fix it?
Stop leak is OK on old, high mileage cars with many leaks that aren't worth the cost to fix them, I wouldn't recommend Stop leak if the car has less one hundred thousand miles on it. That's just my opinion.
And engine runs well, no smoke or any smell coming out.. So at this no worries, just checked oil regularly...

I keep wondering if they can just use explosives to seal the oil leak. I'm sure it's been addressed. But why are they not just sealing it that way? Because BP is trying to keep a working well alive?I don't know. But I did come across this comment to an Article on the Spill...

I have an Oil leak on my 2006 Durango. I noticed that it seems thicker than what I have seen in the past. Almost the consistency of melted ice cream. (that's the best comparison I could think of). It also has a mix of brown and tan...not just a normal oil color. What could be the issue? And is it...

I sold my 1991 Dodge Stealth with over 200,000 miles on it about two months ago for $2,500 and now the people are calling me threatening that if I don't pay for things to be fixed on it they are taking me to court. The car wasn't inspected and they knew it had a bad wheel bearing, the car made a...
