In a post-apocalyptic world, what would be your job?

You need to have a job, even if you live in a post-apocalyptic world. What would you do for money and food?

Isn't there a scene in a Monty Python movie where a guy goes trolling down the street with a cart shouting "Bring out your Dead!"

Seriously, nothing I do would translate into anything valuable in a dystopian society. I would have to hope my husband would help me out because frankly, if not, I'm done.  :-)

As long as you don't become the wife in "The Crazy's" because she was useless!

Learning would be my first job. I would have to learn how to barter, assuming money is of no value however, goods would be. You might say I would become a procurement expert. I would market my goods to world weary travelers.

There are 3 things that never go out of style no matter what is going on in the world.  To Love one another.  To care for others.  And to nurture others, whenever and wherever possible!

I disagree. We've never lived in one so it is silly to imply one would "need" a job. Take "Walking Dead" for example. They don't all have jobs...sure, they have things to do..but they all pitch in so those aren't "jobs" in the sense you are implying. Being part of a group where everybody helps survive negates that "having a job" thing.

Good point. In this group what would be your specific skills? Or what you would bring to the group?

I'm a ninja. I would ninja things. Or i'd hunt down Al Gore so he could re-invent the internet.

I guess I would start a company that made little Wall-e robots.  Forget money though, you'd have to barter for my services.  Clean water, healthy food, good materials to build shelter and make clothing, etc.

Personally, to me everyday is the apocolypse and that does not mean that the world is over- it means that if I do not act, then the world is over; or at least mine is. I believe that one of the best actions one is able to do is to work in a way that will help progress mankind someway- somehow. What better way is there then to work in the medical field. Or how about owning a business that is compassionate, stable and ethical?
