   Is it me or are all teens dressed 4 to 6 inches about the knee?
   
   Ok, I'm new to being a teen mom, where are the stores I can go to find appropriate attire for a fifteen year old. I'm looking at Macys and the dresses are way to short in my eyes. Some could pass as shirts, is this the style? I want my teen to dress age appropriate, what are the best stores to achieve this? I don't want her dressed as a nun, just age appropriate. Help! She is not auditioning for pretty woman part 2, crying out loud! I'm like really Macys she is going to class not the club! This is just a taste of the junior section.

   The style is short dresses, but most teen girls wear leggings underneath, or some thing like tights, and of course shorts. It should depend on her style and what she likes, but put some thing under the dress.

   Britt, the definition of a Mini Skirt used to be "4 inches below see-level!"

   Apparently the school rule is your finger tips have to touch the bottom. My sister and I talked about it. She made a good point, she has long arms so her stuff has to be pass her knee. (Thank goodness, lol.) However, people with short arms are getting away with murder, lol. Seems like a silly rule when you consider it like that. All they had to say must be 2 inches from the knee, lol. Gives short armed people the upper hand.

   Department store-wise I have no idea. Online there are some places. I think http://www.mikarose.com/ has some nice clothes. I think it is for women, but they do have XS sizes that might fit teens. Either way it is a good example of how you can be modest and still look very nice.
   
   I completely agree with you. Clothing for young girls has gotten out of control. If I had a teenage daughter, I think I would have a simple rule: whatever they wear should keep it so that no one knows anything about their underwear. Which means no 2" skirts, no skin-tight clothes, no bra straps falling out everywhere, no plunging, loose necklines, no buttcracks, etc. And she could hate me for it all she wants. If she wants to be a sex object she can decide to be one when she turns 18.

      Agreed.  I want to pick pieces she can take into her adult life (timeless), but not trashy. Thanks I will check that site out.

   Personally that is  why I think there should be school uniforms...at least in school clothing would be appropriate...and they are NOT expensive clothing....
   The fashion industry and celebrities have set the trend for years as to what we are supposed to wear...all teens go through this experience...every generation has had a fight with this issue...remember back to the days of the mini skirt/Twiggy
   Did your mother approve of your style ? and did you ever rebel ? if so, how did it make you feel ?
   Just have one teen celeb dress " appropriately and ALL would change.....
   I understand your frustration..my daughters are grown now with their own children..only difference theirs wear uniforms......
