Why does google loves to get wikipedia on the first page of search engines?

    Why does google loves to get wikipedia on the first page of search engines?

    I just noticed and you probably notice it most of the time when you search on google and wiki always pops up on the number 1 and first page of google. Any explanations?

    Wikipedia is a collaboratively edited website with most facts provided with references. So most of the time a wiki page can be considered an authority page on that subject. So Google naturally gives it more authority in search engines. Also people tend to link to wiki articles more often than other articles so they acquire quite a lot of back links as well. All this combined helps them rank better in search engines.

    Wikipedia always provides accurate information which is favored by Google.

    As usually it provides the most relevant infromation, and the site itself is considered to be trustworthy; and these two options(among a lot of others) are considered by Google when ranking webpages.

    It's original informative content, updated regular by it's users, that's what Google is looking for. If you use the same formula with your website, you can be on the first page also.
