Do Ebay and Amazon Capsules, lower your Google Ranking?

I wondered if Google perhaps detects too much promotional material on a page and so ranks it lower and places it further down the list.

I don't know that it will lower your Google ranking, but I've heard that advertising for Amazon could lower the amount you could receive from AdSense. Please note that I haven't investigated this, it's just something I was told in a conversation. I quit using Amazon anyway, because I was getting tons of clicks and no sales.

I read on one of Google's training modules that it is alright to have advertisement associated with your articles so long as the advertisement is relevant to the topic. For instance, if you are writing about the benefits of using a microwave oven and you showed ads for microwave ovens and microwave oven parts, then your content to ad relation is relevant and not penalized. On the other hand, if that same article had ads for dental floss, certainly Google would downgrade the page for containing irrelevant ads associated with the content.

Google’s main contention is with pages that do not supply the information readers came to your page to receive. Google wants the reader’s experience to be fulfilling. The reader should leave your page feeling like they received the information and were not bombarded with unnecessary advertisements.

Ah thats some great info Cheers Marlene, Would this include random adds put on the page by the Hubpages ad programme itself?

I think ads are relevant to the viewer. Google has some kind of script that reads the reader's interests, so the ads you see on a page would be different than the ads I see. I don't think it affects anything.

Since i added more Ebay capsules to my Hub this week, my traffic has dropped heavily, whether its purely coincidence or not i cannot figure out for sure.
