Why do some religions disapprove/condemn using protection in love life even in these modern days?
We have recently been to some lessons for engaged couples in our local church before we got married and we were shocked to find out that our religion still states we are not allowed to use any protection in our relationship. Isn't this a bit outdated nowadays?
I don't want to start a fuming fight between religious and not-so-religious people with this, but please do share your opinion!
And of course, please respect those too whose opinion differs from yours. Thank you!
My guess to why Catholics and other religions ban the practice of safe sex is growth in their church. The expected way to engage in sex is to be married first. Each baby born is usually an automatic member of the church. Growth in church is my answer. Thanks for the great question!
@diyomarpandan: I hope you won't find my comment offensive, but:
What do you think of families in Africa - or for that matter anywhere else in the world - who have 5-6+ children and they are unable to feed them? Many children die because of that, meanwhile their parents just keep bringing more and more people to the world?
I understand that your religion is very important to you and for other people, but why would a religion condemn something that in fact just serves humanity to stop to destroy itself? And religions do this only because they have an 'allmighty' god and 'he' wants more loyal followers?
Sorry if I still sound offensive (I don't want to hurt you or other religions at all), but the reason I don't follow ANY religion is because they have 'rules' like this. It is ridiculous to give birth to tens of children if you are unable to feed even one and the other circumstances around that child are not baby-friendly either. Sure, I know that now religious people usually say that 'God will help you, no matter what', or when the child dies, they will get to a 'better place', but am I the only one who feels a huge controversy here?
It is like allowing sex before marriage, and the bible allowed sex to the married only.

A recent Gallup poll shows Protestants and Mormons really Disapprove of how President Obama is doing his job by 58% and 78%, respectively. Catholics only barely Disapprove with 51% while all other religions and non-religious groups Disapprove at rates that vary from 20% to 41%.Why such...

It's going to be hard for me to write objectively about this, but I'll try.I've recently seen a documentary about the child witches in Nigeria. I think it's just about the most terrifying and horrendous thing I've ever seen. The diagnosis and labelling of a child as a witch is pretty simple.If...

Religions have inculcated people that the feminine principle is evil as a result of the Adam and Eve mythology. Religions, especially patriarchical religions, have indoctrinated people that women were to controlled and subjugated to male authority. All aspects of women's power,...
