   How can a hub I have not published have a higher score than ones I have published?
   
   I just noticed this, and thought it was kind of funny, so does it have to do with the amount of words used, as there are a lot in this unpublished hub, and I may have to break it down into more than one hub.  Would that be a reason?  Plus, I noticed it had page view, and that scared me to death, as it is not published, then I realized, maybe every time I go back and edit, that is considered a page view?

   I think the pageviews for unpublished hubs are views by HubPage staff members.
   
   The scoring system is something I do not understand. It is apparently a changing variable based on a lot of things including quality, number of views, source of views, number of comments, etc.
   
   I would not worry about the scores. Just get your Hub into the shape you want and then share it with us. I am looking forward to it.

      I know what you mean by the scoring. I published a hub this evening, got 30 hits on it right away and dropped 2 points! Now who could compute that in any manner? Does someone sit there hitting a down button or what?

   Every time you preview a hub, it is considered a page view so that answers one question. As for the hub score, I think it is the same tool that is used for published hubs, but it can't tell the difference between published and unpublished so it ranks it regardless.

   Hi Faith Reaper.
   
   The hub score is affected by factors within our control (e.g. word count, keyword choices, etc), but it is also affected by factors outside our control, particularly how well the keywords in our hubs are performing out there in Googleland.  If the topic of our hub is trending upward on Google, then our hub score will rise.  And like redwards01 said, the system is rating those hubs even before they're published.
   
   And yes, those views we see before publishing are our own views from when we keep going in to edit.
   
   A higher word count will boost the hub score, and that can help it rank well on HP and lead to more views, so there's no need to break it up unless you think it's just too much for our ADD generation readers to sit through at one time...which is always a strong possibility.

   I believe that if you are logged in when you visit any of your hubs, it's not counted as a view. This is only on 'your' hubs. But, if you are not logged in, then it does count as a view on anyones hubs you visit.
   I think the views you're getting on unpublished hubs are coming from moderators checking your hubs. When you start a new hub, a moderator is notified. It's the same when you edit your hubs. Part of a moderators job is to make sure your hubs are up to Hp's standards. They make sure no spam, plagiarized content, or X rated content gets published.
   The more often you edit your hubs, the more often they check, especially if you're a new hubber. And I would think, if they like your hubs, they may be recomending them to other moderators. This may effect your hub scores.
