Why is it that when I try to log-in to Hub-pages, there is now a box check-marked to log-in using
Facebook? And it also says that it will keep me logged for 48hrs ... is that for people sniffing coke and hopping hubs for 48 hrs straight? I'm being sarcastic but the nonsense Hub-pages is indulging in lately is beyond my comprehension.
Many websites are going to the "Sign in using" thing. Pinterest is one, you can sign in using Facebook or twitter. It makes it much easier to sign in quickly, but it also connects your facebook or twitter account to just about anything you do, which I'm sure does wonders for security...
As for the "Keep me logged in for 48 hours" that has been there since I joined 8 months ago. I actually like that feature. I hate signing in, mainly because it's just an inconvenience. Signing in means I have to wait that much longer to see my stats! lol
it also connects your facebook or twitter account to just about anything you do - This is mainly what I am concerned about Daughter of Maat; especially since Facebook is a sponge for personal information only to turn around and sell it to marketers.
I agree. I wonder if eventually signing in the "old fashioned way" without using facebook will be a thing of the past. In which case, privacy will also be a thing of the past!
What about those few of us who dont even want to use facebook? Are we to be banned from the internet forever?
Indeed Dr.Mark... Facebook seems to be promoting conformity. I think it's a testament to the current state of society.
You are just now seeing that??????????
I don't sniff coke, Sir - In inject methamphetamine.
Sniffing coke is for wusses
I think this thing is convenient, as it allows me to stay logged in LONGER than the previous model did....and now, I only have to mouse click a thing once...rather than type in the name of the woman that knows already I am nuts about her.....
Haha!! Yes, I am just seeing this now.
It's the Facebook thing that really got me going ... The bloody thing is trying to intrude into every part of my life: it's like a virus that keeps spreading and stealing people's information for profit.
What happens to the ones that don't even have a Facebook page? I am still signing to HP the old fashion way
I find nothing wrong with using your social network to log in. It saves you creating a new password you may forget. I have a website where people use their FB to sign in and they find it very convenient. I don't use the feature here but I do use it elsewhere.
Staying logged for 48hrs only means that you don't have to keep putting in your password every time you access HP within 48 hrs. I may be sniffing coke because I access my account every time I get an email notification from HP which I like since I follow forums, questions and other hubs that I like to keep active in. I also like answering each comment as they come in so I probably enter HP 24 times per day or more.
It was very frustrating for me having to put in my password every time I access my account countless times for the day.
Thank You for your perspective. I suppose my concern is about security - merging passwords and accounts makes it easier to access your information from anyone who wishes to do so. Also Facebook makes a profit from selling our information to marketers
Basically, this feature just incorporates FaceBook and Twitter to your HubPages account, so that it is both quick to log in and means that you don't have to remember your log in details for that account.

I joined up with Hubpages a week ago, originally just to build links to a website I started 2 months ago. Now I'm enjoying Hubpages and the freedom to write about other topics that interest me and have adsense and amazon earnings as well.As for promoting websites, I haven't used Facebook or Twitter...

My Twitter account is @JohnnyF89 Thought I'd ask because I've noticed many published hubs that recommend the use of Twitter to help you with Hubpages.
