Romney or Obama. Does it really matter?

If Americans want this country to improve, they have to accept the responsibility for it's regression. Lack of initiative, morals and self-reliance are now the motivation on who to vote for. We want whoever will cut spending the most, as long as it doesn't effect them. Someone that won't make us do something to earn what we have or get.
The coach is no better than the players he has to work with. No matter who is elected, nothing gets better without some effort by the people. We want change? Start with looking in the mirror.

The real power is in congress. Whomever is elected president will try and push his agenda. However the president needs votes in congress to achieve his agenda. This explains why we don't have pro-choice during one president's term and abortion is illegal during another president's term. Congress writes bills and passes them. The president is the figure head or official face of the country internationally. In fact he has more clout on the world stage than he does domestically.
As for cutting spending we need to give the president power to do a lie item veto. Cutting spending/programs must take place BEFORE cutting taxes. Our biggest expenses are Social Security, Medicare, Welfare programs, and Defense. No candidate is going to get elected announcing plans to cut programs that help the elderly, poor, unhealthy, and veterans. Promising tax cuts is popular!
If you take in LESS revenues/taxes but keep the same programs in place then you blow up the deficit. This is what happened with George W. Bush. He came into office when the country had a (surplus). He proceeded to give us $300 refund checks each and then he (cut taxes). However the (same governement programs remained in place) and we got into (two wars) to boot!
To be honest with you most people are not laying awake at night worrying about the deficit. They care about having a good job, a home, food, retirement funds, and disposable money for vacations and toys. No one is thinking about how much money we owe China. Stock market crashes and mortgage defaults are another issue.

Excellent point you've made. But I believe that the government is the brain and the people the body and the brain is telling the body what to do not the other way around. It stopped being 'for the people and by the people' a long time ago and that is why the American community is coming loose at the ends (if I stated that properly). I find it funny to hear form American citizens that government should cut spending; YES, the govt. should stop spending so much on arms and on themselves and give more back to public education and healthcare. Anyway I agree with most of what you say. All the best.

Here is a great example of how some parties will do anything to get their candidate elected and the sad part is that threatening someones job if Romney doesn't get elected should be totally illegal and they should be prosecuted.

It's a news article so I don't make any money from it, unlike the developer who will lose a little it Obama stays in office

I agree a lot with what dashingscorpio had to say, but this kind of stuff just makes me sick to my stomach and although he doesn't threaten to fire or lay off people every election year., You don't dare speak of your "democratic support" any election year without expecting to either take a cut in pay, be laid off, or be "under the radar"
