Why are some more susceptible to Cults than others?
Could it be lack of Education or some other family trait?
I would imagine it's a combination of things. Willpower, circumstances, emotional state, peer pressure, and ignorance (or lack of education) are all things that come to mind for me.
Thank you for this comment I may do a Hub on it and your impressions are most appreciated.
fear is one of the big reasons. these people are afraid of going through life on their own so they tend to go where there are others that make them feel safe. this is the main reason religion and cults work so well.
Thank you so much for the comment. I appreciate your insight into this topic.
Because a lot of Secret Societies offer spiritual knowledge that's hidden from the mass population. Mental states such as bliss, enlightenment, ending suffering and healing emotional disorders are offered. Gurus or Spiritual teachers provide a service that is unorthodox and an alternative to mainstream religion. The problem is, a utopian society is an impossibility. There will always be power trips and corruption. Although many have gained tremendous wisdom from ancient teachings and meditation methods.
I was always told by my brother that I was gullible, yet my parents took us to this church until I was 21, and I am not sure of all of the reasons. Even after I got married they expected me to see the people and be kind to them.

Why are people offended when others don't accept their faith? If you are sure, why be upset?Christ never tried to convince anyone to believe in him. He had a purpose, lived it out and people believed on the power of God within him. Why get so defensive?
