Some cat breeds, like the furless varieties, do need baths because with no fur grease builds up on them. Cats that are being entered into shows are also given baths just to fluff them up and make them pretty and clean. Service animals always require baths before going to hospitals, nursing homes, schools, etc to prevent the spread of germs. However most cats can bathe themselves unless they get too old to do so themselves or get into a mess (perhaps getting into wet paint or something sticky, etc.) Some people also bathe their cats to keep allergens down. If this is something you wish to do with your cat be advised you should start training them to accept it when they are kittens! Its much easier for everyone that way! smile

Sure they do. Around here I've seen a mobile pet washer driving up and down the road. It's a full size van that will pull right up to your door, and your pet can climb right on in and get a bath. They also have a machine for pet washing at the local pet store. It's like a vending machine where they hop on in, you close the door and put some coins into a slot. Giving pets a bath is big business.

Nothing I like better than giving the cat a bath. Except taking out the garbage. My teenage daughter's cat, of which I am the guardian, gets a bath at least once a week now. It was almost daily in the summer when the fleas were jumping on him. I'm sure he feels better a few hours after the bath and he is dry, but when it is happening he acts like he is being tortured.

My cats never get bathed because I believed cats could clean themselves. However, my partner cleans his cats by taking them into the shower. The younger one, Mini Meow, loves the shower and always tries to jump in the open door.

they don't really need baths to be honest, although maybe once in a blue moon like once a year you can give them a bath just to be safe, but really they keep themsleves terribly clean. and think about it, in the wild do they have baths?
