How do you choose titles for your hubs?
I posted my latest hub this morning (11/14/12). Before doing so, I spent some time on Google Adwords. When I was finished I had my title. "How Can I Stop Drinking." I just checked and I am number two on Google's first page on search. The title was the phrase most people were using to search that topic. Of course when I put in my exact title, I should expect to be well positioned. Is there a better way to choose a title?
I do the exact same thing. I check Google Adwords to see what is most searched with low competition and plan my hub that way. I didn't learn this until it was taught in the apprenticeship program so it looks like your right on track!
I'm not as clever as you cam8510. What I do is think of different ways anyone would search the theme I've written about. Then I type the title in on google and see what I come up with. If there are other texts with the same title I give it a slight twist. Perhaps yours is simpler and a lot more efficient. Good luck.
Thank you Garifalia, I appreciate your input. You are being somewhat scientific about it. Adwords would be a step farther. I am still working to understand how to best use Adwords, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I am retitling everything
I didn't even know there was such a thing. Although I've been here a few months there are lots I still don't know. You probably need to have already connected with AdSense, right?
https://adwords.google.com/o/Targeting/ … WORD_IDEAS That is the link. You shouldn't need anything except your Google id and password. Choose keyword tool. Play with it till you under
I appreciate your trouble, but I haven't been connected to AdSense and haven't got a Google password.
Adsense isn't necessary for getting Adwords. Just sign up for a gmail account and you'll have a Google ID and password. They you read any instructional material on the Adwords site and start experimenting.
I try to find a healthy balance between an interesting title that demands the reader's click, and ones that benefit from keyword research, using Google Adwords. The title extremely is important in getting ranked...
Um...I just make something up off the top of my head and go with it.
Hi Cam, since I am in the Apprenticeship program, I use the "exclusive" titles. But I still make sure they are SEO friendly by using the keyword tool in google. I submit the name I think will work and see my competition, and how many people are actually searching for my information on my hub. If at least 1000 people search a month, and I have less than 1000 titles as competition, I use that title so people can find me in the cyber universe. See you soon on the hubs!
For my latest hub, my title shows competition of 87 million. I am second on the first page. Is this how you determine if it is a good title?

This is a two-fold issue. I know we're in the middle of a Google Typhoon or whatever animal is wreaking havoc this month plus the summer traffic is, well, obviously somewhere else. In January/February of this year, my traffic was around 2000 views per day. Right now, I'm lucky if I crack 400. I'm...

I logged in to Hubpages this morning to find that whereas previously, I had two unfeatured hubs that I have been intending to get around to editing or deleting, I now have 25 UNFEATURED for "lack of engagement".Whilst I appreciate that the older hubs may well need some work or in some...

A bit of background first...I joined HP almost two years ago, did a bit of writing and then stopped for a long time. Then went back and got into the apprenticeship program. My hits, on average per day, were a total of 100. I know how much I'd earn from HP per day from that to hit...

Over the few week's alot of people have made complaints about there traffic plummeting, some say it's a panda update and some say it's because it's summer, I was one of them. Today! I am experiencing an drastic increase in traffic so I'm just wondering is anyone else experiencing this? Now that the...
