What is most important thing which will make  better  manager?

We are living in corporate world, where success is measured in numbers. What makes a good manger who can drive a organisation to success. What makes everyone to see the success with same vision.

My answer would have to depend on the specific criterion of how "better" a manager is to you. Say, if you view a manager as someone who gets to achieve deliverable and deadlines through complete utilization (and sometimes exhaustion) of both his financial and human resources, then such quality is something every manager has to emulate. But if you are referring  to communication capacities and people skills, such qualities can become highly relative.

I am talking of a leader who leads team by examples, winning heart of every team member.

Then, it would have to be the latter consideration I mentioned. Thanks for the clarification. smile

I would say communication skills. Developing one's communication skills will go a long way in developing trust within a team. Communication, when focused on listening and verifying what is heard, will enable a manager to understand the needs of the team and the organization. Communicating both good and bad news frequently will help a manager to be proactive in minimizing the "rumor mill" and unfounded gossip common amongst managers that do not communicate on a timely manner.

As a consultant, when I meet with clients and conduct an needs assessment, poor communication is usually the number one problem. Strong communication skills will set the foundation for becoming a successful manager.

Interpersonal skill and communication are important, but may not be enough. It needs to be more than this, leading by examples with clean hearts.

By being a leader instead of a boss. You will know your employees and can place them in the best positions for the group. This way each person is valuable and helps the group to their full extent. A manager or boss knows how to give orders, a leader knows those he works with to help everyone.

Delegate, Manage, Follow up. Simply stated harder to achieve. If you are managing your staff you are communicating with them constantly. By delegating and then following up you are teaching them. Don't be afraid of allowing them to fail on "safe" actions things that really won't hurt the end goal. Failure is the best teacher.
