3D glasses from the cinema work on your 3D TV. Why do people still purchase them then?
The 3D glasses in the cinema are usually the really cheap throw away kind. For people who really like to watch 3D TV, they probably want to buy a fancier and more durable version of the glasses.
Well the new TV's that one of my friends bought comes with just the cheap glasses and I had just come back from watching the hobbit (where they provide you with a snazzy green pair) the glasses they gave me worked the same and were great. I know what
Aren't you suppose to return the 3D glasses after you watch the movie in the theaters? Plus you don't look cool wearing those lame cardboard movie theater glasses. $50 3D glasses though just make you look awesome.
If you put an apple symbol on it you would look even cooler!!
Haha! Well no, you have the choice to recycle them. I got some sweet hobbit ones on green. Not too bad. By yeah the other ones are usually cardboardy as nanderson500 also pointed put.
Lol about the apple logo. I haven't seen cardboard glasses in ages; I think most theatres have upgraded to plastic.
Yeah, true. Plastic is the new big thing. I guess that shows how long it has been since I saw a 3D movie.
The theatres I usually go to wash and sterilize the 3D glasses after people return them, that way they can be reused for other movie showings. (They're the durable kind, not the throwaway kind.) I know some people keep their glasses, but I think most people return them.
There are probably multiple reasons for people buying them, such as their 3-D glasses from the movie theaters get broken, misplaced, scratched up, etc..,
It all depends on the type of 3D HDTV they have. The 3D glasses you get at the movie theater are Passive 3D glasses which means that the glasses don't use a motor to help project the 3D image. The Active Shutter 3D glasses do have some type motor that "shutters" the lens to help project the 3D image. Imagine blinking with your eyes separately at your TV screen, that's how Active shutter glasses work, but they "blink" at a faster rate to project the 3D image. Like my 3D HDTV, I had to purchase my glasses due to the fact that Sony's 3D HDTV's are Active Shutter Glasses. But normally the ones that are from the movie theater may work with Passive 3D HDTVs if they are universal, which means that they will work on all 3D screens or 3D HDTVs. I haven't tried it my self yet so I don't know if that is possible since some 3D HDTVs only work with their own specific glasses.
Some people don't go to the movies and others may purchase 3D glasses because they simply don't know they can work with a 3D t.v. All types of glasses get damaged or destroyed and this could be another reason for buying them.
because the theatre usually makes you turn them in at the end of the movie, plus the ones from the theatre are so cheap and the lenses arent even that good or clear. If i had a 3d tv I would much rather get a high quality pair for myself!

It was great! I didn't think I was going to like it, but we have friends here from out of town, and she wanted me to go with her. She had already seen it in non-3D and wanted to see the 3D version. She said there's no comaparison. Man, 3D has come a long way since Jaws 3D, the last 3D movie I saw...
