How can I protect original articles on Hub Pages from plagirism?
I would like to protect my articles on Hub Pages so that they are not copied without my permission by lazy bloggers to their sites. How do I do that?
As soon as you write a hub on hubpages, under the law it is copyrighted in your name. To better protect yourself put this on your hubs if legal action needs to be taken...... © 2012 You can copy and paste this.
If someone takes the content of your hub and cuts and pastes it into a hub of their own you will find that hub pages has a automatic "duplicate content warning." This means that if anyone tries to copy your content on hub pages they will not be allowed to because the duplicate content warning will not allow that hub to be published.
Getting back to your original question about plagiarism, if a lazy blogger does try to copy your work onto a blog of theirs you will find that Google and the other search engines are able to identify this plagiarism and Google and other search engines wills simply quash there earnings and page views.
So try not to worry to much because there are some automatic defenses against plagiarism built into search engine software.
Also if you are worried that someone really has copied your content get in touch with Hub Pages Team and they may be able to advise. And you do also have to defend your work International Copy Right Laws where if you had the time, the funds and the vital legal knowledge you could take legal action against anyone who tries to copy your work. Though this action could cost you financially, the law is on your side and you could use this to protect your work.
I hope this information helps. Good luck here on hub pages. From Safiq Ali Patel.
unfortunately, google et al do not search for plagiarism, since they have no control over what's put on the web - i was searching for a humorous article someone had sent me by email and found it on over a dozen websites when i did a google search
Thank you Safic for your providing such a detailed explanation and response. Appreciated.
I agree with Jthomp42, a simple copyright notice is usually enough, however if somebody does copy your work it is down to you to win your claim. It's unfortunate, but as we own our own work here on Hubpages, they will not be able to help you legally.
I think the truth of the matter is that you really can't protect your work. Even if someone did not steal your every word or your every line - they can easily steal your creative thoughts and promote your genius as their own. If not on Hubpages...likely somewhere else.
The bottom line is that posting anywhere poses a real risk. Copyright infringement does little to help you, unless you have the legal means and the means to pay. Copyrights are less effective than restraining orders, which are commonly ignored. As is said in criminal circles, "It's only illegal if you get caught".
Best wishes - C.J.

I've rewriiten a HubPages Story after receiving a duplicate post warning. I received another "duplicate post" message. It's not a duplicate post. The new version is almost all new. The only thing I didn't change was the summary and title. What can I do? Is there anyone at Hubpages who can...

Apparently there are those who do not know what plagerism is! But I am sure they know that copying, pasting, maybe spinning an article written by another is not "Original Content." Plagerism is against TOS of Hub Pages, and can get you in trouble for copyright infringement as...

I can't believe what's just happened. One of my hubs was scraped and stolen. No big deal right? Happens all the time and its something that seasoned online authors get used to after a while because hunting thieves down is almost impossible. Well here's a new twist. Hub Pages found the stolen...
