Have you heard about MiFi, Is that any connection with WiFi ?
I think its something like WiFi. But I don't know what it is. Is it a new technology ?
Yes, I use Mi-Fi on my smartphone when Wi-Fi isn't available. I'm not sure but I think this applies to the Three-pay network only. It's basically a high-speed mobile internet connection. It lets you use your smartphone as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot so that you can connect other devices.
Thank you for the information. Let me know that , is MiFi work with 3G technology. Because here we have only 3G.
A Mifi device is a great thing to have when you're in an area with no wifi. Mine (from Verizon) works with 4g - very fast.
Is this the same as tethering? I was on a Greyhound, the Wifi wasn't working, I created a hotspot with my cell, so I could use my computer via wifi.
As rfmoran says, WiFi is a device that is basically your own mobile, battery powered hot spot. I also have a Verizon MiFi "jetpack." It's actually what I use for my home internet connection!
Actually I've heard about MiFi. I believe it stand for My WiFi and it basically is a portable Wi-Fi hot spot. It is kind-a useless nowadays, because most smartphones have the option to become portable Wi-Fi hot spots.
Nowadays there are not only 3G, but also 4G MiFi devices.
I believe the connection that MiFi provides is a bit better than the one your phone has, however if the mobile connectivity in your country is kind-a bad ( as for example in mine ), the device won't help you much ...
No it is not a new technology.
It is really just a marketing scheme by companies. WiFi is considered for big spaces like your home or a coffee shop. Mifi, is for the individual person, to use when you are out and about on the go and need internet access right away.
