I'm new to younghopes. I signed up a few months back but didn't really get active until this year. I'm hoping to earn some real money. We'll see.....

If you happen to be an amazingly talented writer *and* a ninja-level master of SEO, maybe it's possible. But how many people have that skill combo?

I've heard of a few people who make enough from HP to make a living from it (i.e. anything over around a steady $200 or so a month), but those seem to be the writers who have worked extra hard and struck paydirt. For me personally, HP is a good way to make a little extra money to pay some bills or even help pay for a vacation, but that's it. And with people suffering drastic traffic losses from all the Panda/Penguin updates, it's gotten harder than ever before to make a steady full-time income from online writing.:-(

"Panda/Penguin updates" refers to a never ending series of changes to Google's search algorithms that seem designed specifically to mess with the lives of Hubpage writers... smile

It's really true, I am just starting out and it looks kinda hard business, but I write quality content so I think I'll survive from these updates. Google says if you have enough quality and useful content on your site then you'll be fine..  smile

I signed up here the last few days of July.  In November I made    $189.00 , In December I made $271.00 and I'm expecting to make about $400-$450 this month.

I do no SEO whatsoever, I feel like google punishes any attempt at SEO and I basically just write what I want to say and choose my title and summary carefully.

I know this isn't an amount that I can live off of by any means.  Perhaps someday I'll reach that level, but at least it's an amount that does make a difference in my life!

You can still make money on hubpages!

YoungHopes - It's really not a trick to write without SEO.  I seriously just write what I want to write.  I carefully choose my Titles, my summary and also my subtitles.  I write about what I search for, if I'm searching for it, so is somebody else.

some people are able to make great money on HubPages, but it takes commitment on the part of the writer.  I am because I do not write as much as I should on HubPages.  I have blogs and other projects that allow me to make money there.  I should do more.   But that is me.  If I were you, I would go for it.

No, i couldn't make a living by writing solely on hubpages but it is the only site that gave me the most earnings compare to others. I earn roughly USD $10 per month. While at Expertscolumn, I earned USD $3 per month. So, how could I live with these money???? i just write for interest and sharing my idea to hubbers. Hence, holding a permanent job is still important to me.
