Would you rather be the boss of your own business or be an employee of others? Please elaborate.
Given the option, would you like to run your own business? If so what business would you be passionate enough to focus your energy and would it be profitable? If you chose employment or working for others business, what job would you be most effective and efficient?
I would like to be my own boss and run a business! That way I work by my own rules. The usual office life is not meant for me as I can't deal with office politics. If I were to run a business, would open up a boutique or something. That's what I am interested in
Exactly. Politics and professional rivalry in the job is rampant, everybody wants to step higher in the expense of the person next to him. Whereas there is so much fun and excitement in creating something that expresses your personal inclinations in.
I am the boss of my own business and cannot imagine working for others at this point in my work life. The challenges are greater when on owns and leads one's own operation. The same holds true in a doctor's office. The doctor is the boss and sets the tone, or climate, for other workers. The "buck stops" with the doctor. It is a lot of responsibility, but it is worth it.
Regards,
Dr. Haddox
I run my own business and could never go back to being an employee. Some reasons:
1. No-one else (apart from my wife!) can tell me what to do
2. I'm not beholden to anyone else apart from my ethics, my bank balance and my clients
3. I have the shortest commute ever!
4. I don't have to do personnel reviews, office politics or anything else like that
5. Any success is my own, I'm not lining anyone else's pockets
That's not to say that running a business is easy. Cashflow can sometimes be tricky, I don't get the social interaction from going to a place of work or the security of a definite, regular amount in my bank balance.
But, I could never go back - The one thing that having your own business gives you most is freedom, and I couldn't trade that off...
Such truth! I know that there is so much "socializing" in a workplace comprising various personalities and ranks of employees. There are also pros and cons in running your own business. It's just a matter of choice and priority of personal values.
I have always been an employee in the medical field in research labs and in the hospital setting but working for myself sounds like a good idea .I love to travel and write and learn languages especially French which I can speak conversationally but not grammatically correct yet (according to the people in France I have spoken french with). I have travelled quite a bit throughout the world but I have not written much about it up until a few months ago when I joined hubpages. My dream business will be a language interpreter for the CIA( LOL! believe it or not) and write about travel blogs in undiscovered, untrodden places in the earth that man rarely set foot in nor conquered. How about elephant rides in Luang Prabang Laos, subzero winter Siberia in the Orient Express Train, balloon rides over thousand year old temples in Bagan,Burma or better yet, trekking down with a 4 wheel drive Land Rover in the treacherous ravinous unpaved roads in the Himalayas? .Getting paid for Wild adventure is definitely right up my alley! LOL!
Wow sounds wonderful. If you put some more focus about your dream business, one day you will be in it. I can sense your passion in the way you relate it. Try to follow your heart and everything else will follow. Good Luck. Thanks for sharing.
You're right,I should get out of my comfort zone and just do it.Let's see where the my road takes me.I bet it's going to be a wild ride! My dear Husband will be livid but that's what you get when you marry someone with a wild streak.LOL!
I absolutely love being my own boss. The thought of working for someone else ever again really does not sit well with me. I enjoy my freedom to create and set my schedule as I see it most productive. Most importantly I enjoy the fact that I really enjoy my work better than any job I have held. Plus I'd much rather be working to fulfill my dreams when I know I can, than to be paid to work on someone else's. The exception would be in those instances where my work coincides with someone else's.
